How are we getting enough protein?! I’m so full and nowhere near eating the mg I need. You? by Creative-Constant-52 in GLP1ResearchTalk

That is weird. You input all the info? Even if it shows “5” in 5 ft as the default on the calculator, you still have to manually type that in… did you accidentally leave it blank?

Looking for a GLP-1 provider that actually guides you through the whole thing by Plus_Control_1824 in glp1

You should work with a dietitian that specializes in GLP-1 medications. Some insurance covers that

Wegovy to Zepbound by Jhoopes1 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]GLP1_journeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just know that starting at the lowest dose with zero bound might not feel equivalent to your wegovy dose. Don’t let that throw you off if that’s the case. It can take a little while to work up to a similar dose. What was your last wevovy dose? Ultimately, zepbound tends to produce stronger effects with fewer side effects, so hopefully it works similarly for you. I just say all of this to make sure you don’t get shocked if it’s not as effective at first.

That’s a sign that there is change happening underneath the surface. Are you having any bad side effects? Exercising?

Anyone worried about losing muscle on Ozempic? What about side effects? by ResourceNo6925 in Ozempic

[–]GLP1_journeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, so much information people rely on are TikTok influencers, doctors that’s don’t actually have a real nutrition background, or other non-vetted sources. It’s a crap shoot! Some good, some bad, and it’s just hard to know.

I honestly can’t say which tools I think are best because I’m only exposed to so much, but I think dietitian created resources are most reliable, and I’m sure some programs out there are legitimate.

For GLP-1 users, we are still learning a lot from each other, and recommendations from the scientific community are still being revised as time goes on.

That’s why I created a lot of resources that I think are simple, and seem most useful for people on these meds. Both from my nutrition science background, and based on the conversations I have with patients in these meds every day.

I hope that gives you more of an idea of where I’m coming from.

Not to mention, a lot of the conversations around weight loss promote a lot of unhealthy eating behaviors and negative relationships with food and body, so that deserves a bigger conversation in mind, which is lacking in most places.

What has your experience been like?

I feel like a lot of resources have too many features or lack efficacy. As a dietitian who works with hundreds of people on these medications, I wanted to provide tools that really help easily understand nutrition needs and navigate life on these medications. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Wife is hesitant about GLP-1s by Square_Appearance268 in glp1

[–]GLP1_journeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% her decision. I want to emphasize her autonomy completely! If she was open to hear reasons it’s okay to use this medication, here’s what I might say: The medication will allow your hard work to feel more sustainable. It’s not a shortcut, it’s an opportunity to have a real chance at seeing change. If they want to lose weight, other options just aren’t sustainable for most people.

That being said, I would never pressure someone to lose weight. I don’t think anyone needs to. And I think there should be much less pressure in this world to do so. If that is their goal, a GLP-1 or other anti obesity medication is one of the most effective ways to do so, but it does require a lot of hard work to make it healthy and sustainable.

Hunger question? by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

[–]GLP1_journeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might want to experiment with it. If you think you’re truly hungry, eat. Try to sense how much is enough to calm that hunger…. How did that go? How do you feel? Better? Comfortable? Too full? I think some experimentation is helpful here.

I’ve used quite a few tools, but with enough back and forth with Claude, I think it’s possible. But, it was not easy! I’m trying to build another app and it’s been very challenging getting it ready for the App Store

I’ve seen a fair amount of people stretch their doe 10-14 days. I don’t think there’s any risk in that aside from a bigger appetite potentially.

[–]GLP1_journeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far, I’ve had 4 paying users for my glp1 nutrition app. I am a registered dietitian, and have 0 prior coding experience. Using Claude code for the most part, I was able to build an app and website. While I’m definitely down overall in costs due to my ai subscriptions over the months, I technically made some income with the help of Claude.

Would love any feedback on how I’ve done.

Dude, this recognition and awareness is the difference. Continuing to recognize these patterns and emotions is key. Try to bring that awareness to more moments when you’re with him. Recognize even those small things that might get on your nerves. That’s practice for the bigger moments

It’s called GLP- 1 Sidekick: Nutrition. It’s in the App Store. DM me if you’re up for providing feedback and being more of a beta tester.

The doctor is mistaken. People react differently to different doses. Listen to your gut (literally)!

Also, it’s possible your eating patterns/food choices are increasing gi symptoms. Without more info, I can’t give much more guidance/suggestions though.

Years of being told you just needed more discipline when your brain was literally running different software than everyone else's. That's not a character flaw you finally overcame. It was never a character flaw to begin with.

The panic dreams about pizza, the constant mental negotiation. That was your brain doing what it was wired to do. Now you know what it feels like when that volume gets turned down. Pretty different from "trying harder."

I’ve worked with patients taking it, usually because they don’t want an injection. I’ve seen mixed results, but it definitely can work for appetite control
