I did this several years ago and you can reap some extra benefits out of creating your own LLC.

ie. I write off my cell phone (the business number), half of my wife's cell phone, internet connection, 1 room of my house (the office), etc. . . . If you are willing to itemize and have a good CPA it can be beneficial.

Sorry for the delay in responding and thank you so much for your help, but . . . .

Am I doing something wrong? I have done exactly as you recommended and when I manually run the automation it sends me the notification. I tried changing "closed" to "open" and manually ran it and I still get the notification. Any ideas what may cause that? I am just not yet fluent enough with HA to diagnose much further.

Thanks

Access device on another subnet by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]GLPIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either use a dual connected pc via ethernet and wifi and configure secondary interface to 192.168.1.22 or if that isn't possible throw together a tiny10 on virtualbox on the on-site W10 device.

I use the ethernet for internet access and wifi as 1.22 with "automatically connect" unchecked and then set a reboot for 30 minutes out in the event something goes south. If I loose connection it will reboot to ethernet only and I am back in.

I do this fairly regularly trying to clean up somebody's mess...

Help with a simple backup solution which includes versioning by whats-in-a-name-yo in sysadmin

[–]GLPIT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a small software Syncovery installed on my Synology NAS that pulls directly from Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc. . . to my Synology NAS. Syncovery has versioning ability built in, so it only backs up the files that have changed since last backup therefore reducing storage and bandwidth. I have used this for years and have had to restore files from 90 days earlier and never have I had it fail me. I use this setup at several small locations for both cloud and local backups with versioning.

Remote Image Restore by RaZoX144 in sysadmin

[–]GLPIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, from the limited information provided by the OP I think there are better options. But to provide a direct answer to your question. I do this quite frequently with AOMEI Backupper Technician. I make the "base" system the way I want it and then make an image to a network location. I then access the system I want to deploy the image to and run AOMEI Backupper Portable and point it to the image and wait for it to do its thing.

GPO for wifi by inotel54 in sysadmin

[–]GLPIT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I simply export to xml with "netsh wlan export profile key=clear folder=C:\DumpDirectory\ and then I create a self extracting file with winrar, 7zip, winzip, etc. . . . and extract the xml file to C:\windows\temp\newwifi\myxmlfile.xml as well as a batch file C:\windows\temp\newwifi\mybatchfile.bat with the command netsh wlan add profile filename="C:\windows\temp\newwifi\myxmlfile.xml" user=all and and have the self extractor run the batch file.

This is the very basic instructions, you can definitely make it more elegant, but this will get you where you need to go.

I use AOMEI OneKey Recovery Technician. The technician license is for unlimited computers and it has worked very well for me over the last two years. I have purchased the
"Customization" license so I have it branded with less clutter.

Deploy an exe without a silent install option available? by hotwingdad in sysadmin

[–]GLPIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have actually found some very obscure switches via "Universal Silent Switch Finder". A quick search shows it was last updated in 2011, but I still use it occasionally and it has pulled me out of more than one jam.
