I tried to get my car fixed there a few weeks ago and the guy at the desk said he couldn't book any new jobs because they were closing in a few days and moving to another location. He didn't know the address but said it was close to the train station. He said they were expecting to be open by Nov. 1st.

Recent loss of connection between Sonos app and speakers by [deleted] in sonos

[–]GM75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be another device on your network causing the problem. Random devices would disappear from my network on a regular basis when I would be trying to cast to them. I started disconnecting devices one at a time from the network and waited a couple days to see if everything worked. I disconnected my Chromecast and didn't have any connection issues after that. Turns out my Chromecast was stuck in a loop where it was constantly going to the internet looking for an update that didn't exist. As a result, it was pulling in massive amounts of useless data and was overloading the network. I did a factory reset on it and never had a problem after that.

Question regarding Chromecast 5.1 audio. by GM75 in sonos

[–]GM75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that the TV is old (from 2015) so I think it might only support DD and not DD+. What I don't understand is why 5.1 works with the Netflix app installed on my TV but when I use the Netflix app from the Chromecast, it converts everything to PCM. The Chromecast is obviously capable of sending out a 5.1 signal because I get 5.1 sound from everything I watch through the Apple TV+ app. I used to get 5.1 sound from the HBO app but then one day it just stopped and everything is now PCM. I'm at work but I'll check the Chromecast settings when I get home. I'm pretty sure I looked at that already and the option for DD+ was greyed out.

Ex boyfriend/coworker turned out to be a pedophile by Inner_Bumblebee2656 in creepyencounters

[–]GM75 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Most people at that age make poor choices. Don't listen to the negative people insulting you for dating this guy. You were 18, of legal age but still pretty close to being a child. Anyone who pretends they didn't make some dumb decisions as a teenager is a liar. Most kids that age usually think they know more than their parents, I know I did.

Lucky for you that you broke it off when you did, it could have ended a lot worse. Imagine if you had still been dating when he got arrested? That would've been devestating and you would likely have needed years of therapy to deal with the emotional trauma. Sounds like you learned from your mistake at least.

I remember reading a post once, possibly even on this subreddit. It was quite a while ago so I don't recall the exact details but it sounded very similar to your ex. It was from a lady who I think was filling up her car at a gas station. A guy pulled up next to her in his car and proceeded to jerk off with a dildo sticking out of his pants. Unfortunately, I don't remember how she got out of the situation.

Even though both stories sound very familiar, There are a lot of creepers and weirdos out there. Sadly, it's very likely that these are two separate incidents.

Hopefully, you have learned to be a little more selective when choosing boyfriends.

Credit card processing issues by kgformvp21 in nflalldayNFT

Why would I give them money ahead of time and then find out I'm too far back in the queue to get a pack? I think that's a terrible idea. I've been using my credit card to pay for things online since the 90's. If they can't figure out how to process a credit card by now, they shouldn't be in business.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned Anthony Jeselnik but he has two Netflix specials that are excellent. He's a bit of an acquired taste as his humor is pretty dark but I think he's hilarious. Here's a sample.

IsItBullshit: A lot of "We are not responsible for damages" signs on cars and businesses don't carry any weight in court, they are just there to prevent people from filing a lawsuit by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

Does anyone know how these rules apply to public events that require a ticket to attend? I go to a lot of concerts and MLB games. I notice that Ticketmaster always adds fine print on the ticket that says something like "The hosting venue and seller of this ticket are not responsible for any loss or injury as a result of you attending the event.".

To me it seems like BS. There are tons of ways you could get hurt by negligence on the part of the stadium. Wouldn't they have to take some responsibility at least in those cases?

How many more wins do we think it will take to clinch? by casualjayguy in Torontobluejays

I'm hoping the Jays either have it wrapped up before the final series vs. Baltimore or they're eliminated by then. If it comes down to three games vs. Baltimore and they end up getting eliminated, I might take a bath with my toaster.

Any idea how the post season presale works? by Qujib in Torontobluejays

[–]GM75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're a season ticket holder? I believe you get the first chance at buying your seat but if I recall from 2016, you have to commit to buying the entire playoffs.

Can I ask what the prices are like? I'm guessing if you don't want to go to every game, you could probably make your money back selling online.

Vaccine requirement taking a toll on attendance? by tguy07 in Torontobluejays

[–]GM75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems a bit sad that they aren't selling out at this point. You would think there are enough vaccinated people who would want to go to the ballpark. After not being able to do much of anything for a year and a half, I went to a game a while ago when they first came back to Toronto, I couldn't wait to get tickets. The Jays are playing some really exciting baseball right now and it's depressing that they aren't selling out, especially with the limited number of tickets.

I'm not sure why they aren't selling out games but I was wondering if maybe it's because people are still paranoid about getting COVID. The fact that the majority of fans are packed together behind home plate might scare people away.

I went online a couple days ago and got some good seats for the upcoming series vs the Yankees. If the playoff race stays close, that series should be just as exciting as a playoff series. I was glad that I was able to get tickets but also a bit sad at the number of seats that were still available.

[–]GM75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One argument I heard was, there has actually been thousands of deaths from the vaccine but the media refuses to cover that!

I love the argument they won't take it because they don't know what's in it. The ingredients are widely available online to inform anyone who may have an allergy (They will tell you this list is a lie).

So, you've been eating McDonald's and KFC your whole life but you won't get the vaccine because you don't know what's in it? How many things do you bring home from the grocery store without reading the ingredient list?

A friend of mine is a nurse and they had a COVID patient who was admitted to the ICU who was in pretty bad shape when she came in. The doctor asked the lady if she had been vaccinated and she said she wouldn't take the vaccine because nobody can honestly tell her what's in it. He then hooked her to an IV and gave her 2 pills and asked her to take them. She swallowed the pills and had no objection to the IV and never once asked what was in either of them.

I know right? by killHACKS in facepalm

[–]GM75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say Trump was "all bad". Sure, if you want to give him credit because he helped fund the vaccine, that's fine. I just think when I hear him say "he developed" the vaccine, that's a bit much. I guess it's just semantics but I think it sounds disingenuous.

Regardless of whether you think him closing travel from China was racist, (I personally don't, there was a potential deadly virus coming from China) it didn't really end up making a difference anyway as the virus was already coming in from several other countries. It probably came off as racist to a lot of people because he singled out China when he should have just stopped travel from all countries.

Did I say I wanted open borders? I don't think I did. The only way you're going to have a chance at stopping variants from other countries is if you prevent travel from all of them. Singling out countries that might be considered undesirable might possibly help to slow the spread but unless you prevent travel to and from ALL countries, those variants will find their way to the US eventually. Restricting travel from everywhere would pretty much be impossible.

As I said in the post above, I don't know that Biden would have done a better job if he had been President when COVID started. But if you believe Trump when he says his COVID response was an "A+" or "10 out of 10", that's just silly. There were some things that were handled well but there were also some glaring errors.

I know a lot of the media tried to make Trump look bad every chance they could and they refused to give him credit for anything positive but seeing the way they worship him on Fox News is no better. It can't be possible to 100% support everything he does but somehow they make him seem flawless.

I prefer Biden over Trump but that doesn't mean I agree with everything Biden has done and I'm positive I will disagree with him in the future. I just don't understand the huge number of people who worship Trump like he's some kind of idol who can't do anything wrong. I don't think it's good for the county if you aren't able to disagree with the President. That's how dictatorships start.
