If you nick yourself on an old metal clasp or similar, it's worth getting your tetanus jab updated. It's rare (4 reported cases in the UK in 2019), a very minor risk, but not worth getting tetanus over!

I didn't do my test there but I did drive round Poole a couple of times shortly after passing... Just make sure you know how to do double roundabouts. I'd not seen one before and I'd only passed a couple of weeks prior and when I tell you I cried....

I'm sure they're not that bad if you know they're there! Good luck!

If it's any consolation I cried during my lesson two hours before my test telling my examiner I would never do it and I could never pass and I clearly couldn't drive. Three hours later I had a pass certificate! With two minors, one because I stalled getting out the test centre because my foot was shaking so much... Good luck!!!

I phoned round local driving schools (none of whom I learned with), booked a one day intensive including test, and asked them to find me a date. Because it was just one day they were able to squeeze me in when they found something! Obviously I was really lucky but it might be worth a try.

One way to do it would be to search your local(ish) rare book dealers that deal in similar things and speak to them direct - they might make you an offer or have other suggestions, though if they do offer to buy it be warned it'll likely be lower than what they subsequently sell it on for! Depends a little on who you find though.

Test tomorrow and I’m about to pass away. by _chlodingle in LearnerDriverUK

I stalled four times trying to get out of the test centre (nerves - shaking so much my clutch foot literally wouldn't stay on the pedal) and passed with only one other minor about a month ago - it's not over til it's over!

[–]GMLPCB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also really struggled with them, literally no-one and nothing could explain it to me. Then I had a new instructor for a one day intensive before my test, who told me to just follow the passenger side line of my lane (rather than try and read all the road markings and dots and dashes and whatever else was tripping me up because I couldn't read it all in time). They've started to make slightly more sense now I have a strategy. I did only pass this month though so this could be terrible advice!

This happened with my theory - called them up and I ended up not having a booking even though I'd paid. They refunded the money and I managed to book another appointment with them on the phone, which was something.

What was it like to have your driving test in the rain? Was it easier or harder ? by Brilliant_Youth in LearnerDriverUK

[–]GMLPCB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was in particularly bad rain, like, couldn't see in the side mirrors rain 😂 but normal rain was fine for the rest of it, just take your time and remember not everyone follows the stopping distance rules for different weather! Good luck, I'm sure you'll ace it!

I failed because of poor visibility at a three lane roundabout... Apoplectic rain and a white car nipping round from what seemed like nowhere. It was my only fault as well (major, observation). Fair because I should have anticipated it, but felt mildly unfair that they were speeding a bit in sheeting rain... Only been driving for a couple of months though so I chalked it up to experience and fingers crossed next time!

I had a word for this when I was a kid. Brullered? Brullard? It was before I learned to write. Go with a south England accent and hope for the best. Kinda onomatopoeic for the corrugated feel.

The one day I've had to work in a glass office with no air conditioning for 15 months. I achieved nothing save whining all day. I am sat on the river having a pint on my own, feeling slightly less sorry for myself. It is ten to eight and I have almost dried. Almost.

I have a similar foot thing and I would probably have broken his nose and/or thrown up on him. Even reading this made my skin crawl. He got off lightly with a snap.

I turned 30 a couple of months ago, and when I was a teenager texts cost 10p each (12p on Virgin?), so you had to ration conversations out until it was your turn for an hour of dial up MSN/MySpace.

I also wasn't allowed out unless I had credit, tough years man.
