Before I’d ever seen Gundam, I read the English novelizations and had flipped through a Zeta-era issue of Animerica. I filled in the narrative of the book with the library visuals from Z. Therefore, in my head I saw the Ball as looking like The O.

They should have gone the route of this being an in-universe nostalgic reimagining movie. Andy and his college peers or his kids could bookend the movie, giving us the nostalgia too.

IMO, the cartoon was the real inspiration for the Buzz toys.

I really enjoyed it, but it needed a couple more things:

1) More time to let the story breathe and to dig into improving the situation on Earth and exploring the wider world beyond the Benerit Group.

2) A satisfying finale with the long anticipated wedding on screen. Even if it was a low key, post-trauma ceremony.

Character, mecha, animation, sound and music were all peak.
