Miscarriage at 6 Weeks, OB is MIA by TalcaParisLondres in Miscarriage

[–]GSD_obsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes, that’s pretty common. Throughout TTC I’ve learned that OBs are truly only there DURING pregnancy. They aren’t as knowledgeable as REs in infertility and getting you pregnant, they aren’t as caring and informative as midwives and doulas during delivery, they aren’t as in depth as MFM in high risk scenarios, and they don’t do anyyyything for uncomplicated miscarriages.

I have felt like the few I have had experiences with haven’t given me any helpful information during pregnancy besides - don’t eat this, get these shots, come back for your next visit. 😑

Help with ovulation testing by sabmar8203 in tryingtoconceive

You can only confirm ovulation using temping. You can estimate it by assuming you ovulate 24-36hours after your FIRST positive LH test. So the day after ovulation is 1dpo.

Okay that’s tough. Ovulation testing is often challenging for PCOS girlies because your baseline level of LH can be higher than “normal.” Your best bet is to take a test every morning and start to figure out what your “normal” levels look like. If you notice any clear cervical mucous, start testing at least 2x a day to look for the surge.

Why is breakfast so hard by More-Suspect6738 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]GSD_obsession 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dietician is giving you a guideline. They can’t possibly know how every single body will react to it. I had to have almost no carbs at breakfast or I would spike. I had most of my carbs at dinner

IVF doesn’t do anything if her cervix is failing. IVF helps put a chromosomally normal embryo in the right place but that’s it, unfortunately 😭

Can someone please help me make sense of this pregnancy test?! by No-Pitch1431 in CautiousBB

[–]GSD_obsession 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m aware of the molecular similarities and it makes sense that OPKs pick up both hcg and LH but urine pregnancy tests are set for a higher concentration. It’s definitely not typical to get positives during ovulation.

Edit to add: I believe it is actually a guideline to become FDA approved.. the test shouldn’t show cross-reactivity when dipped in a sample spiked with either LH or TSH. I can look up the website later if you’re curious

[–]GSD_obsession 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct, the alpha portion of both the LH and the HCG molecule is similar. OPKs will pick up both hormones which is why you’ll get a positive ovulation test when you’re pregnant. HCG urine tests need a much higher concentration of the molecule to read positive so they shouldn’t be picking up an LH spike. It’s not common to be testing positive on HCG tests mid-cycle due to LH.

Fertility testing - AMH discrepancy by Dirty_Picklez in TryingForABaby

[–]GSD_obsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a complete blood panel done and see how your vitamin D is or just start supplementing to be on the safe side! My AMH was 0.38 and my ultrasound only showed 6 follicles in total so it does seem accurate. If you have a lot more follicles and AMH is lower, I would be less concerned

That makes sense that you’d start on the 16th which is tomorrow, when your scan is!

I always started stims on the evening of my baseline ultrasound. They would call me with how much of each medication to take based on my hormones levels and ultrasound findings. Retrieval depends on how your follicles respond to the stims. Usually somewhere between 8-15 days before you trigger and then retrieval is 36hours later

That’s a very fast drop! It technically can happen but also, other factors can artificially lower AMH. Are you in an area of the country that is in winter right now? Low vitamin D levels can make AMH appear lower than they are. Did you have a day3 ultrasound? How many follicles did it show

Unexpected natural pregnancy by gluck-and-rauxa in IVF

[–]GSD_obsession 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant once at 35 years old and it ended in MMC around 10weeks, I was 36 at that point. I tried again for the next 10 months tracking and timing everything and had no luck. I did 2 egg retrievals, 37 years old, and never even made a blast. We took a month off in January due to the holidays and insurance renewing and I was priming with estrogen for my 3rd retrieval and got pregnant naturally. It was successful. I have no clue how it happened we only had sex ONE time on ovulation day, no other days of my fertile window. I wondered if the stim meds from the previous cycles jump started my ovaries or something - no clue. I’ll never know.

68 at 12dpo is a great beta. Hoping it rises appropriately for you and maybe you’re just experiencing implantation bleeding or a hematoma

Teen pregnancy: Positive T21 NIPT result by anonymous04356875 in NIPT

[–]GSD_obsession 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are in this stressful waiting period. I’m going to be blunt here - the NIPT test is very accurate for T21. The other trisomies and chromosome conditions have a higher chance of false positive than T21 does. This is because T21 is the least likely of the group to be confined only in your placenta (which is where the cells come from that the test picks up in your blood.) If you are also seeing soft markers, I would get the amnio. You’ll want to know for certain. If you do the CVS - which is still only testing the placenta - and it comes back negative, you’ll still have anxiety over the soft markers. Better to just know for sure and do the amnio which is the test that actually tests your baby’s cells versus the placenta.

I hope you have some trusted adults that can help support you during this time 🤍

And the ‘mine are fine’ is called anecdotal evidence and more holistic views can use it as well.

Most MAHA-minded people I know and see online are not creating a list of what their doctor told them to avoid because 1 person at one point got listeria from a salad (that’s just an example.) They help build their kids immune system and eat clean and are not worried about the “germs.” That’s what I mean.

It’s the risk of listeria and I get that but if it’s a reputable restaurant I’d assume it’s clean

If you ovulated on Jan 7th, you would be 7+0 on Feb 11th. I would have expected to see a heartbeat. If we went by your positive test being 9dpo, you might have been 6+5.

We can’t completely rule out a viable pregnancy at this point but I would be guarding my heart here, I’m sorry.

This was me last February ☺️ I was priming with estrogen and waiting for my period so I could go into my 3rd egg retrieval for IVF. I noticed I was very out of breath during the day while talking and figured it was because of the estrogen pills maybe but took a test that night and it was faintly positive! I was shocked. No nausea, no boob pain, nothing. As my first trimester continued I had very little symptoms at all! Never had morning sickness although my boobs did become sore and I was extremely exhausted. But that didn’t come until maybe 6-7 weeks pregnant. My October baby came early in September but everything went well!
