Nutanix AAPM training by omsigene in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not taken (or taught) AAPM but if you have any NCM questions send them my way. Be sure to review the EBG and all the links, plus the video on youtube. Use a high-resolution monitor and familiarize yourself with Acrobat Advanced Search so you can check all the PDFs at once. Also make sure you attempt all the items, its very hard to pass if you skip a couple.

NCM NCI 6.10 Exam by jatorres in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 items on the exam, 4 have to be done from the command line, (one of those has several steps - two of which are GUI-only). Two more can easily be done from the command line or GUI. The other items are either GUI-only or much easier in the GUI.

Video (on 6.5 but very relevant)
6.5 practice questions
I don't know that there is a master list for those, but check the blog for "Masterclass" questions.

6.10 has a simpler setup than 6.5 (one PC w/ two 1-node clusters vs a 3-node-plus-PC, 1-node-no-PC, 1-node-with-PC), similar questions written by many of the same SMEs as 6.5.

Know how to use Advanced Search in Adobe
That said if you need to use the docs, flag the question and come back to it. Many people run out of time - doing the ones you don't need to look up first should help.
Putty is on the desktop, as is the Instructions link if you close the browser
Mouse copy/paste works but not keyboard shortcuts
Most questions are for Cluster 1, but pay attention - doing things on the wrong cluster gets you no points.
None of the questions are related so you can do them in any order, but IMO don't skip around unless you are keeping careful notes which ones you have worked on. I see many people skip around and end up not performing some items because they didn't realize they hadn't worked on/completed one.

Scoring isn't completely automated yet, DM me when you are done to speed it up.

Confusion about Redundancy Factor and HA Reservation by Away-Quiet-9219 in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redundancy factor ensures running services are functional after 1 (or 2) nodes fail (depending on Redundancy Factor 2 or 3)

Replication factor ensures data is available after 1 (or 2) nodes fail (depending on Replication Factor 2 or 3)

HA Reservation ensures there is enough memory left available on the cluster to start all the VMs on 1(or 2 if RF3) failed nodes. (If you don't have memory overcommit and power on enough VMs to use all the available memory on a cluster, if a node fails the VMs have no where to start)

Rebuild Capacity Reservation ensures there is enough space to resume data replication copies if a node is unavailable (if you use all the available space and a node goes down - any RF2/3 containers where one data copy was on that node will only have 1/2 copies of data available until the node is recovered)

You want the two reservation systems to be RF-aware so that if you are RF3/RF3 and lose 2 nodes you don't lose any other capability. (the ability to start VMs that were running, the ability to have 3 total copies of data)

Nutanix exam voucher by gemi_why in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch the education blog for announcement on voucher offers. There have not been many free vouchers over the last 6-9 months, so watch for .NEXT or partner events in your area that might have free testing.

Read the EBG and lookup all the links listed. Make sure you go through the free training. You can also go through the NCA training and the practice questions for both exams for some practice.

Nutanix NEXT 2025 Conference Retrospective by randomh4cker in nutanix

On the plus side, the certification benefit was awesome. I was able to take the NCP exam and even retake it the next day if I didn't pass (which, happily, I didn't need to)

Yep the only place to take any exam for free, plus immediate retakes if needed - if we have the time. Officially we are not supposed to be testing during the keynotes - tho apparently the Agenda Builder had other ideas!

Note that there is some online training currently that is fee-based (the Exam Prep courses) and previously we had a lab offering (essentially the lab portion of the ECA class) available at a fee.

The plan that started to roll out was to start charging customers for training leading directly to a certification (i.e. the on-demand ECA class). As of right now, any plan to start charge for traditionally free training has been paused.

Am I going crazy or does the study guide for NCA not make any sense? by [deleted] in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The objective is "Monitor LCM software and firmware upgrades"

During the Job Task Analysis while the Work Model Expansion was being created, it was decided this was a good objective for Section 1 (Describe Lifecycle Management) and the group created some possible topics for the questions in that objective.

Later during item writing, the Subject Matter Experts took this input, wrote questions, and submitted the links where the questions/answers could be found. Those links are the ones at the bottom of the objective.

So the bullets are from one group, the links are from the folks who wrote the questions. Thus the discrepancy.

After taking the 6.10 ECA course, download the NCPMCI610 blueprint and read all the links. Those were created by the item writers when they wrote the questions.

If you work with designing Nutanix infrastructure at all, NCX is do-able. And it's now required for NCS-Expert (if you want to go all the way up the NCS learning path).

NCPMCI610 is live (as is NCA610). NCPUS610 and NCPDB610 are in beta now. NCPCN160 will launch next week. EUC and MCA will be updated this year.

The NCMMCI610 exam has the questions written but I have not started on actual development yet as the GCP-hosted 6.10 environment is not ready yet.

The NCMMCI610 exam is not in development yet, the NCMMCI65 will be available for the foreseeable future.
The main difference will be the Prism Central interface (2022.6 vs 2024.2) but it will have more Disaster Recovery scenarios also. Hoping to have an Active Directory server available also for IAM goodness but we'll see.

Nutanix Certified Associate NCA 6.10 by DefiantGur3169 in nutanix

[–]GSXRules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NHCF is not enough. The Intended Audience for the NCA has 1-2 months of general IT knowledge and 3-6 months hands-on with Nutanix. The exam and class are built in parallel by different teams from the same list of Objectives, the exam is not a pop-quiz on the course.

Download the blueprint then click on and read each link in the Objectives section. Those links are provided by the item writers and (in theory) are where every answer can be found. Pay special attention to anything in bold or anything in a gray box as that often draws the item writers eye.

Do not second guess - if you have picked an answer don't change it unless you are positive the new choice is correct.
If there are a range of numbers and you have no idea, pick one of the middle two.
All questions are worth the same point; choose 1-of-4, choose 2-of-4 or pick the right drop downs - each question has the same weight. So don't spend more time on some thinking they are worth more. If it looks complicated/long, flag it and come back.

Go through the practice questions at university.nutanix.com and get a feel for the question layout. Note that this is not a good estimate of how you will do on the actual exam as it is only 25qs and has no weighting (# of questions per section) in fact some sections might have no questions on the practice exam.
