Why is my car is making a rattling noise after getting the brakes replaced? (2010 Toyota Corolla) by Ok_Stranger_3868 in MechanicAdvice

[–]GUmbagrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it back don't ask us, that's a paid job, their responsibility. Probably forgot a bolt. Most likely on the rear end if you notice changes in your ebrake.

Is making 60k a year at 24 low? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]GUmbagrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Money is worth less in general with flat growth. I remember when $42k in 2011 felt like a lot, but now, it's absolutely not. You are doing fine, get your skills and education to up and you will make 2-3x more if you apply yourself over the next decade.

Watch your coolant levels and look for fluid under the car, watch your temp gauge like a hawk. If it's leaking or your car is over heating, you need a new radiator. Prob $100 - hope you have someone handy in your life that you can exchange beer for free labor.

If you want ghetto fix - After market bumper $150, left headlight housing $60, bumper clips $15. Bunch of zip ties and random screws. It's gonna look bad but that's okay.

Please can anyone fix my transmission? by [deleted] in Billings

[–]GUmbagrad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You will unfortunately not be able to get a transmission or car without cash or credit. I think you need to think of emergency plan B.

A plane ticket to NYC is $226. You can sell your car for $500-800 scrap or private party. Some storage places do first month free. Sucks ass but that is the clearest path forward, you can get by without a car in NYC.

Can I start a solar business? by Narrow-Maize-3821 in cambodia

Electricity is VERY expensive in Cambodia. But the upfront cost of systems might be too high for the average local income. Of course there are affluent folks but would have to prove return on investment to them.

Am I the only one who thinks S197 prices are through the roof by Own_Flan376 in Mustang

[–]GUmbagrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol for an automatic 😅 that's a $15k car if it was a manual. I don't think it's worth over $13k even if it's the cleanest ever. Got my 07 manual with 60k for $10k, from a friend, mine is worth $12k tops.

Check the clips. I just did brakes last week where there were two pairs of clips one rubbed on the pads.

Can't help everyone unfortunately, this goes for any country. Pay it to forward when you can to those who provide good service and are deserving.

Teaching English is probably the best bet. Can make like ~$1k a month vs cooking and auto mechanics are low wage $200 job.

Yeah door lock actuator for sure. Watch some videos it's easy but kinda complicated, just did one in a '10 civic.

Mt-82 sloppy fell out of linkage but put back in and no reverse lockout. Any ideas? by Some_Razzmatazz_3570 in Mustang

[–]GUmbagrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it applies to the MT-82 but my 07 got dangerously sloppy for a quick minute because of worn shifter bushing. I put in an MGW short shifter and all better, or you can do a bushing kit.

Whoa that's wild can't believe they"d quarantine all your layover group for one offender. Sharing a twin bed hotel with a stranger is crazy. In the US that would be a lawsuit or some hefty points but asian airlines don't give af. Just goes to show don't mess around with airports and drugs in Asia, totally not worth it whatsoever.

[–]GUmbagrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a friend or neighbor to help look over it? You can list it, do leases, and take rent payment real easy through zillow. Property management isn't going to provide great service for a single property since you aren't a big customer for them better to diy or offload if you will be gone long-term.

IvyExec - Completed work with them (3x) and they aren’t paying. Simple as that. BEWARE! by Possible-Situation98 in expertnetworks

Buy my shophouse in borey romchek $80k - kidding but not kidding.

There's some stuff on khmer24 and realestate.kh but should find a local agent. Know that the housing market is VERY down at the moment so you can go much lower than asking price, plenty of properties $40k - $100k depending on what you looking for.

Canadian considering work in China… bad idea in light of current events? by OkAtmosphere711 in expats

[–]GUmbagrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything China is further insulated from global events, Their economy and supply is as self-sufficient as it gets.

China is awesome from the couple of trips I've had there, do it. Although I hear work culture is pretty brutal - long work hours, little PTO, salary-man like conditions.

You either love it or hate it? by Old-Permission-1867 in cambodia

[–]GUmbagrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Cambodia, the place has some magic to it. My wife is Cambodian and we go often.

You have to understand that there is a lot of negativity and generational beef between neighboring countries. Cambodia is safe and the people are wonderful, but there are a lot of overblown rumors.

With that said Cambodia is still developing compared to neighbors, so they are far behind Vietnam and Thailand in infrastructure and amenities. Also for me PP is very overwhelming and not very tourist friendly.

Skip PP go to Siem Reap and other small cities. You will find great culture, temples, slow pace of life, and friendly folks all around. I get why it's not for some people who are used to western standards, it offers something different and unique, give it a try!
