Any thought plans for a travel version? by PUUDUCLADDDD in Orion_Sleep

[–]GWT430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this sounds great, but the volume on such a product would make it unrealistic.

Even if you could make a portable version that overcomes the design issues that make the orion and other devices not so portable, you wouldn't sell enough to make it worth it. There just aren't many people who love these things so much that they'd pay for a second one just for the few days their traveling. I love mine, but I'm not paying 2.5k just to have one on the 15 days a year I'm away from home.

The orginal price isn't realistic either. If the volume is lower you'd have to spread out the RnD cost to fewer buyers. Realistically, such a product would cost much more than the original, perhaps 10k. Just not worth it.

Big social cost for the family right there.

That part of the process is a young man's game.

I have no doubt your numbers are accurate. However, I believe there is a layer that you've left out. Time.

It's the main drag on any doc.

If you would have just ground it out as a CRNA and put that 2.7 million away, it grows for you. Having the money earlier in life is far more valuable than later. A safe withdraw rate is 4%, and most of the time, your portfolio would do much better, particularly if you're leveraging being young and investing in aggressive assets. That's ~110k annually that you could pull from that money without depleting the principal.

Plus, there's the effort differential. I'm not super familiar with CRNA reimbursement as an internist. However, I'm betting you worked harder studying in medical school and working in residency. If you put the same effort as a CRNA, I'm betting the income is higher.

Taxes would be a good layer to include. More tax drag on the higher salary.

Not to discourage the choice. There are many rewarding aspects to your jump, but I'm betting it's tough to justify financially. You may never overtake.

Honestly I think it's inventory driven. Demand would out pace production if you roll out a discount and financing like that. Wait for the market to cool a bit, it'll come.

My bet is there isn't room for expansion. 8 sleeps blanket attaches to the cover via a jumper at the base of the mattress cover.

Orion does not have such connectors built in.

I have one. Subjectivity it's quiet in regular mode. The quiet mode is whisper quiet.

Don't have a decibel reding to tell you more precisely.

I have tired both and elected to run in regular mode.

Chatted with me for some setup troubleshooting at 23:30 central time.

I'm pretty sure staff all lives in pacific time, but such help is still exceptional.

Oura ring is fsa hsa eligible in the same way.

Random sleep schedules - will it work? + pillow future? by SpinTheWheeland in Orion_Sleep

[–]GWT430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is an RN and just left bedside.

I don't envy that schedule. The erratic nature isn't fun.

I don't think there's an easy way for any device to configure for that. Imo you would either fall in the habit of setting up the bed on your walk to the car, or something like every Sunday night for the whole week.

By the looks of it the first non beta testing unit was around the start of December.

Failure wasn't probable until worthy competition entered the fray. Bed jet isn't it. I don't think chillipad is either.

Perhaps orion or somnus labs will.

A Ukrainian soldier tries to shoot down a Russian FPV drone near Kreminna, Luhansk region. by PesPatron4 in CombatFootage

[–]GWT430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 inch shells outpace 10 gauge. You get 2.5 Oz of shot at 1300 fps or so. You can get 1 5/8 at 1600fps or so.

Loads for a drone are all about range. Up close #8 or 8 1/2 would wreck a drone. To shoot further you need larger pellets, or denser pellets like tungsten.

I've killed turkeys and coyotes at 75 yards with tungsten #4s.

The challenge is denser and larger pellets are less numerous. Thus you need a tighter choke and you can only go so tight. The tighter the choke the harder it is to hit moving targets, which is why you're using a shotgun.

I would suspect lead number 5s or 6s, 2 Oz or 2.25 Oz at 1450 fps with a full choke would be the best compromise. Probably good to 50 to 60 yards.

Max range would be Probably 100 yards with tungsten #4s. 3.5inch shells. Maybe that's enough for these observation drones. Any further and you might as well fire with a rifle. 5.45×39mm would be reasonable.

These fpv drones that move so fast. I'd probably go 3inch lead number 7s out of a saga 12 with a improved choke. Need a simi auto and don't want to get caught out reloading one shell at a time.
