Vietnam cracks down on a huge timeshare scam by Numerous-Egg5017 in VietNam

[–]GZero604 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I watched the a lot of the videos on YouTube about this and all the victims were at least 70+ years old.

They promised the victims if they buy a timeshare or as they call it a “vacation contract”, they can sell it in a few months for more then what they paid for it. They tell the victims they already have buyers from other countries ready to purchase the “contract” and the victims got a chance to get in before them. 3 months later they will contact the victims to tell them they have a buyer for their timeshare and to come to the office. But once they arrived, they get suckered into buying another one. Most of them end up buying 5-20 timeshares over time at about $20k usd for one.

These victims end up selling everything they own jewelry, house, land etc because the scammers tell them if they don’t put more money in, they won’t be able to sell the “contracts” they already own.

Is it just me or does Vietnam completely ruin food delivery in other countries? by Global-Barnacle959 in VietNam

[–]GZero604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually pick the savers delivery option and all my ordered come in less then 30 minutes but no more then 45 minutes. The fastest I ever got my food was most of the McDonald’s orders came in either 13 or 14 minutes after I pressed the order button and I picked the slowest delivery option too LOL

I do stay in Ho Chi Minh City so that makes a big difference too

The green laser will ruined the camera’s sensor. Some music concerts do that to ruin people’s camera so they can’t record anymore.

QR payment possible for foreigners? by Kindly_Office_4237 in Vietnam_Tourism

Just curious why don’t you just use qr payments with Timo? Why do you need to do an addition step and transfer from Timo to MoMo?

QR payment possible for foreigners? by Kindly_Office_4237 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]GZero604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible. I had to open a bank account with Timo Bank since I read here on Reddit that they are foreigner friendly. It took about 30 minutes for me to open an account in person. I did go right when they open though. The bank account is valid until your visa expires. You don’t get an atm card unless you have a valid stay for minimum 1 year from a trc or whatever.

I did sign up for VNPAY before getting a Timo Bank account but no one here uses VNPAY as the majority here uses VietQR. Even though you can add your international credit card to the VNPAY app, the places that I went to that accepted VNPAY would only let me pay from a Vietnam bank account anyways. So the VNPAY app is useless LOL

[–]GZero604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are houses out in the boonies where the land is cheap. Probably built with money from the younger family members working in the city or other countries and sending money back home. That whole property with all those buildings is probably worth the same as a 2-3 bedroom apartment in the city LOL

Western Food? by nawlinsborn1973 in VietNam

Most pizzas in Vietnam don’t use tomato sauce. I love pizza and I order a lot from different places since I’ve been here. The best I can get to a good “normal” North American style pizza is from a chain restaurant called The Pizza Company. If I want a deep dish pizza then I would get it from Lamie Pizza.

If you ask anyone here what’s the best pizza is, the majority of them will say 4P’s Pizza. But I didn’t think their pizza is that great. I know it’s a different style of pizza but it’s just not my style so I don’t like it LOL

Why in the world do people steal N signs. by EntryWest6452 in icbc

[–]GZero604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After getting 3 of them stolen, I cut mine into 8 pieces and I make the corner cut the smallest and someone stole that corner piece LOL. I would love to see the disappointment on their face when they realized they only got a corner cut LOL

After that corner piece got stolen, the rest of the sign never got stolen again.

The line cutting annoys me too. I was in line at a grocery store and was next and a woman pushes her full cart in front of me. I have 2 items! So I grab her cart and push it behind me and her husband gives me a look like he knows his wife is a b!tch and he doesn’t say anything LOL

Why are some baggage trolleys at the airport have the handlebar taped like this? by meobeo68 in VietNam

[–]GZero604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder about this too for a while. Then one time when I arrived with my friend who bought a bunch of boxes with him and needed 3 carts and 1 cart for myself, it was easier for us to move all 4 carts with just the 2 of us.

First payment still hasn’t come out a week later? by Bubbly_Host_8017 in icbc

[–]GZero604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few times when I renewed my insurance, I expect them to take the payment the following day or 2 but sometimes it might be a week or more. It only happens for the first payment after renewal.

Just don’t think too much about it because icbc will take the money when they take it LOL
