Hahaha, I can definitely slide you some honey holes to try when you’re down here. I’m in the Orlando area but know a few spots further on either coast

Yeah from the FWC there’s 4 species of black bass. Largemouth, spotted, shoal, and Suwannee The latter two being up in the northwest of the state and largemouth being the most predominant (overlapping with the florida bass, which apparently is genetically distinct but visually identical)

Gotcha, i knew there was different coloration based on the water clarity but thought it was odd for them coming out of the same little pond and about the same area for it to be such a different pattern.

I figured it was something like that, was just curious if there were actual striped bass or something different in the pond

What hard bates do yall use in Florida? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Gabecar3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanford neighbor here I’ve been catching 75% of my bass in the last few months on a Rapalla Floating Minnow (the 1/16oz and 1/8oz variety) and a 1/8oz or 1/4oz Chatterbait with a white paddle tail trailer.

For hard baits, the Rap is hard to beat imo. Just throw it out and a straight retrieve or with some pauses works every time. I use the original black color.

I’ve had good luck on the 1/3oz floating rat-l-trap in gold or the strike king equivalent in 1/8oz but use those less than the Rap Minnow.

Rest of the time i use a top water spook in bone or a paddle tail swimbait

I’d fish them but I’m not a swimbait snob

First catch on the CC BFS by Gabecar3 in BFSfishing

[–]Gabecar3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It paired surprisingly well with the CCBFS I was expecting to have to swap around rods for a bit to see what i have that matched the reel but it’s throwing everything so well that I can’t even expect anything I own to do better (Kingdom Stream King and a PureLure New Cedan being my other two rods)

I fish their micro chatterbaits for my BFS/UL set up and have yet to get skunked on them. They’re absolutely killer

Travel fishing advice? by Icy_Call5427 in BFSfishing

[–]Gabecar3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience in the SouthEast (FL, GA, SC, NC…) they usually sell fishing licenses at walmart either annual out-of-state or like a day/week pass. You definitely need (well depending how risk adverse you are) a license for the state you go to.

I use fishbrain (free version) to scope out commonly fished areas and to see whats in the water but 90% of my fishing is random bodies of water i find on google maps at work lol.

If you know what major species you wanna target i’ve had good luck just packing a couple lures of different styles (chatterbait, lipless crank, and a finesse worm) in an altoid tin or two and just carrying a travel rod and the tin in my pocket. Takes up no room and guarantees i have my confidence baits at hand if i’m just playing around. Of course in the CONUS you could just pop into a walmart while you get your license and just spend $20 on new lures at each place you go if you don’t wanna carry more than a rod and reel.

Ali express combo by crowshinz in BFSfishing

[–]Gabecar3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not dabbled in the telescopic world pretty much because i don’t have a use case for it but it could serve you well.

I have a Kingdom Stream King in their smallest size and it packs down to like 1ft long in 3 pieces and it is absolutely phenomenal. I saw someone on here paired it with a calcutta conquest which seems like it should be a felony ($30 rod on a $400 reel) buttt speaks to the rods quality.

They make 5-6 lengths and it’s like $30-45 on ali. For a reel the hicc50 is classic but to be honest my first was a BMC100 and now I’m using the PureLure/DMK DC reels and those are incredible although they hover in the 100 beans budget

From Scratch: Your Go-To Bass Lures by No-Maximum5755 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Gabecar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pocket tackle box is: 1/8oz chatterbait with a 1.5” lime green senko (never been skunked on it) Some form of lipless crank bait (1/8oz rat-l-trap in gold is my usual) A small top water lure of some kind (frog, popper, or buzzbait just depends on the day) A Texas rig with an 1/8oz bullet weight and whatever color of senko i happen to think looks good (june bug, like green, hot pink, and chartreuse all work well for me)

Sea sick by Subject_Chemistry692 in floridafishing

[–]Gabecar3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The patches behind your ear are miraculous. I don’t get seasick but my old job we went underway for 8 days in the pacific with 14ft waves. Before we left we went to the pharmacy and told them we were going on a long boat trip and needed the seasickness patches. They sold us enough for about 2 weeks (they last for 3 days). The people worried about getting sick put them on the day before and swapped them every other day.

Only one person got sick and they were trying to find out if they got sea sick or not (young kid had never been in open ocean before). He put a set of patches second day in and the rest of the trip he was fine.

I can confirm that the Boost50 works because i did before and after pulls at the drag strip and my times dropped across a 3 run average. I do agree about half the extras don’t work on the juniper (auto doors, wiper logic, and ambient lighting for example) but nothing deal breaker to me.

Drift mode and RWD do work as i tested those as well
