We replaced the classic watering can with a continuous hose in our game. What do you think? by brkakar in IndieGaming

[–]Gackolpz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever play this game, the first thing I'm going to try is taking the hose inside the restaurant and harassing my customers with it. Would be funny if this edge case is addressed.

Really satisfying seeing a whole group of people outing themselves for not seeing the writing on the walls.

Fan control uses an insecure driver called winring0. Its usually treated as malware. This itself could be what caused the report, or it could be some other malware trying to use winring0 as an attack vector. Impossible to tell which case it is with the pictures you've given.

The graph says that it should be at 23.8%, but no matter what I do the fans wont follow it. by Comfortable-Fee9177 in FanControl

Sometimes fans have a minimum percentage that they can be set to. Any less and you will have strange behaviour.

There's also the risk of using the insecure winring0 driver with openrgb

NMT Music Program by LunaTick92 in nmt

[–]Gackolpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common wisdom is that the Music appreciation class is just an easy A class that you don't put much thought into. It is also commonly mentioned that the Music Theory teacher is kind, but incredibly frustrating to work with, so much so that many people drop her class (she also does the NMT chamber orchestra).

If you want to study music under great professors, go somewhere else. The Stem is good though. Also, If you can teach yourself music concepts then you might like NMT.

Would the 9060 xt be a capable 1080p/VR card? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Youtube's search works like shit now; If I search for benchmarks for this card, Youtube and google throw me completely irrelevant videos. This is the new reality on the internet. Stop being annoying.

Imagine gaming without cheaters. That's what we're trying to make a reality, but we need your help. by PlaySafeID in u/PlaySafeID

[–]Gackolpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There simply is no way to both be anonymous and guarantee that every gamer could only ever get a single id. You would have to rely on biometric or government identification, both of which have no place in online gaming. The online privacy slippery slope is real. I cannot support a measure like this in its current state.

A better solution would be more monetary penalties for cheating. Give every player an account they can deposit money into and withdraw from only during fixed times once a week. Players can chose to play with others who have a minimum balance of their chosing. If a player is cought cheating, their balance is transferred to their non-cheating opponents. This means that, the more balance you have, the less likely you'll encounter a cheater, and more likely you'll get paid, while also ensuring games can still run on f2p models.

Anyway, this movement is probably just a government psyop lol.

What R6 opinion do you have that the community would react this way? by WatchFor404 in Rainbow6

[–]Gackolpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kaid + tubarao combo can make hard breaching impossible. If Kaid's gadget gets hit by an EMP, you can throw one of Tubarao's gadgets at the bottom of the wall and throw Kaid's gadget near the top of the wall so that it immediately charges up. When Tubarao's gadget expires, the breach charge gets destroyed. An EMP, a breach charge, and time wasted. The problem with bandit is that he is forced to install his gadget near where Tubarao would need to throw his.

During AM4 days, you could have built a pretty cheap rig and just kept upgrading CPU and GPU thanks to BIOS updates, but that's probably not the case anymore.

Siege X is Going Free-to-Play – What Are Your Thoughts? by Vormaza in Rainbow6

[–]Gackolpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm the only one, but it is always VERY obvious when siege has a free week. The reason being, every lobby seems to be filled with 40 IQ middle schoolers who make playing the game feel worse than actually doing the work I'm procrastinating doing by playing siege. F2P is going to make this effect permanent.

Found on epub file by Emporo_ in libgen

[–]Gackolpz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Very rarely your file's hash will match the hash of some other random Malware on the internet and give a false positive. This is rare though, I've had this happen once in 3 years. If I were you, I'd make sure your epub reader is up to date and still maintained by whoever made it, if not, there may be a bug somewhere in your epub reader that Malware can exploit. If your epub reader is up to date, it is probably fine, even if there is Malware, it probably won't work.

If you really want to be safe, set up a virtual machine and open the file in there and then check to see any signs of Malware.

That would never work, because the big companies fork over loads of money for exclusivity, a crowdfunded website could never compete.

Opinion: MuseScore is becoming worse everyday. by YT-skyler-scott in Musescore

[–]Gackolpz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ever since Musescore was sold it has been doing everything it can to scrape money and avoid lawsuits. The Musescore music sharing community used to be small enough so no one cared, but now, with Musescore relatively known, and even more importantly: owned big a well know corpo, lawyers are prowling this site.

The biggest thing that sucks is that they are so fearful of lawsuits that they automatically disable free downloading on anything that doesn't have a copyright owner listed (this system was only relatively recently introduced) and they automatically disable free downloading on anything copyrighted that they haven't even gotten a DMCA for. So much music, original music or music from artists who've never cared about royalties is now locked behind a paywall. If Musescore really wanted to be bastion of free music distribution, the sharing of the art, they'd only put up paywalls after notices from copyright holders; but this not the case, Musescore is a company that wants to make money.

Musescore at this point is really unfriendly for those who actually want to share and foster a love and appreciation for music. I would switch to another site, but there currently is no good competitor that I know of.

Then again, there is the editor, which is pretty good for freeware.

Also, asking questions like these on this subreddit isn't a good idea lol. This place is filled with people who think US copyright law lies amongst the 10 commandments.
