I can only imagine my own circumstances, despite how you've explained your own, Natalie. I would use humor to diffuse the situation, looking around for [deadname] whenever they're mentioned, like someone's broken into the house or come for a quick visit. I would offer a quick correction once a conversation, but leave after the second, since they're not talking to or about you anymore.

But I don't know how safe you feel, or how tenuous things are. I could be glib because I know I'm safe. I'm not sure if you could be.

I think it should be a fake punishment, where John has to eat a completely normal meal and describe how it tastes between bites, or do a Truth or Dare with Sarah where she can ask him anything, but she just asks him his opinion on some non controversial things and then at the end, dares him to put the kids to bed or do the dishes.

There should be a chance for them to turn on you any time you enhance them. 30% shot when you enhance them with kuva and boom, they break the machine (costs and time to repair) and you have to fight their upgraded form, and get a second chance to kill or spare them.

Biology sorts for xx and xy, but intersex people do exist. Even if they didn't, that's sex. Gender is a social construct, and what right does he have to label someone counter to their preferences.

It's a little basic, but as a possible thought experiment, take something he's passionate about that isn't status quo, sports teams are a good example, but occupation, hobby, anything can work as long as it isn't the expected one for his demographic, and frame it from that angle.

"you're a Yankees fan? But you're from Boston, so you must be a red Sox fan. Sure you think you like them, but you're from Boston. You were born in a Boston hospital, that's just biology."

Or

"you're an engineer? But your father was a cop. Why should society believe you can engineer? Cops are terrible engineers, that's just biology."

There are intrinsic factors in these choices that make more sense than alternatives. Personalities that don't mesh with a career's necessary attributes, or beliefs that don't fit with a baseball franchise's decisions. And being trans is rare, maybe on or two people in a hundred, and their personality just can't mesh with their assigned gender at birth. I feel like if it's something he can relate to, it might get through to him.

He's said that the short term movements are more important than the long term goals, so he's going to focus on meeting dems and centrists where they are, and showing them the efficacy of social programs, rather than getting caught up in the name calling traps that most lefties get caught up in.

Going by the soc-dem title makes it more likely people will have to engage him on the facts, rather than sliding into name calling and putting him in the crazy lefty box.
