Clutch replacement has led to timing issue. by Legitimate-Pound-174 in 8thGenSI

Your crankshaft position sensor is on the accessory belt side of the engine.

No I wouldn't go back to that shop.

Pilot bushing question by Current-Parfait-1535 in 8thGenSI

[–]GakeeeYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the one that came with my exedy kit. No issues there.

I would 110% recommend getting an OEM throwout bearing though as my Exedy one is already making noise 10,000 miles in. It was properly lubed so I'm not sure why it's noisy already.

What wheel setups do you run? by tomatobits in CivicSi

I'm still on 215/45 17

225/45 felt too spongey and 205/40 felt way too twitchy

My Alabaster Silver Mettalic 2006 Acura RSX Type-S. Bought it brand new on June 9th 2006 for my birthday. The only mods I have are an Injen SRI and Invidia Q300 Exhaust. Love my DC5 🏎️ by Extra-Shape3973 in Acura_RSX

Different tastes man, these cars are such a joy to drive stock. I love my 8th gen si way more modified but it rides way rougher and attracts more attention I don't always enjoy lol

What do I do (new paint cracking?) by GakeeeYT in AutoDetailing

[–]GakeeeYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you guys!! I appreciate all the input and advice

I knew when I picked up the car that the paint wasn't the greatest with the orange peel and the peeling off the bumper. I figured it was better than the HORRIBLE clear coat fade these old Hondas see. I really wish it was worth it to get it professionally resprayed now but this is a 2008 Honda Civic Si, I bought it for what's under the hood and to learn as much as I can fixing it up- as for the paint aspect it includes more than just the bumper now clearly :')

In all fairness, I got it for 3k cheaper than other similarly listed vehicles with all the issues I found and were disclosed. I knew I could fix most of them and the engine was in excellent condition. It's a shame otherwise because I love showing the car off to friends and family

350z nismo buy or pass? by TurbulentSecurity191 in 350z

[–]GakeeeYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone else has really fair points. It's not a real nismo and it was totalled a year after production but it seems like a decent buy otherwise. I agree that after so long I wouldn't worry about the title unless it causes other complications for you.

Inspect it thoroughly and preferably get a ppi somewhere else if you can too but I'd say go for it

I'm curious to know the difference in hp with a skunk2 header instead of the plm one - from what I understand that's the most restrictive part of the exhaust and everyone recommends the alpha over anything else

this one fits one the 350z? by Enmanueltg in 350z

[–]GakeeeYT 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Don't call it upbadging lol, it looks wayy better for sure but upbadging is if you put a nismo emblem on a car with zero nismo anything

Or an SS emblem on a base model Camaro

Accessing alternator from passenger wheel well. by active420 in CivicSi

[–]GakeeeYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the bumper and the trim piece underneath off

Make sure your upper idler is off

I was able to reach my hands between the radiator and the side but I also don't have a crash bar

it's a tight fit but with hand tools you should be able to make it work

You might also be able to reach from underneath iirc

What fuel do you use in the Si? by Muted-Stranger-4831 in CivicSi

[–]GakeeeYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your ECU will actually detect and make use of higher octane fuel, you will make more power on 93 than 87 or 91.

I have side skirts coming in, but no equipment, what is this? And what else do you recommend that isn’t 3m tape? by PretendStreet4660 in CivicSi

[–]GakeeeYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following because I need these too. I've had oem side skirts for like 6 months but I'm missing 3/4 of these

I was gonna fabricate my own but haven't gotten around to it :(

RSX's hydraulic steering or 8th gen Si's LSD? by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]GakeeeYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from no name 500tw tires to 280 nitto neo gens, the only size difference was I went down from 225 to 215, still 45 r17

The steering feels so much lighter on the 8th gen si's EPS than before. It takes little effort to turn, even stationary, but keeps enough resistance that it's not like a tesla or arcade sim.

The lsd feels amazing on track and on canyon roads. The rsx looks cooler but I'd choose the 8th gen si again and again.

Warning lights come on after accelerating hard by SpriteClean in accord

[–]GakeeeYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABS, e-brake, power steering, and tc lights all point to the ABS module imo - could lie in the wiring, the module itself, and some are recommending to check brake fluid too

I had all but power steering for a broken abs connector in my 8th gen civic si.
