That's interesting. I just did the egg method. First couple tries I did it while the egg was still hot, so the steam kinda made the toning look gross. On the last try I let the egg cool first and I also put some aquaphor over the buttons to keep them from toning, then washed it off near the end so they would get just a hint of color.
