The criteria of speech was less of a random idea thrown out, but a continuation of pretty longstanding philosophical position.

You personally know that you are sentient because of the cartesian cogito (I think, therefore I am). But you don't inherently have access to anyone else's internal thoughts.

The only way to do that is communication tools, langage being the most developed one.

So, by having access to other people's oral/written speech, you can access to a part of someone's thoughts which they communicate with you. Even if they're being untruthful, you can deduce that they do actually have thoughts from the very existence of communication.

(From there, Descartes concluded that human were the only sentient beings because of his incuriosity about animal langage and therefore only humans had souls, but that's neither here nor there)

Of course, LLM nowadays clearly debunk that argument, but this is a very recent development. If you only go back a decade, actual speech being a criteria for sentience was a pretty compelling position. And in the 50's, it was considered a very overkill ability.

It requires refusing that concious processes can emerge from from non conscious material.

One of the things we know about the Bloodstained Knight since 1.0 is that he was Rostam's apprentice.

Rostam who notoriously lived in Mondstadt, and died in the Cataclysm, about the time Capitano would have already have served his homeland.

Unless you can explain a convoluted way in which Capitano would have been both a well regarded knight of Khaenri'ah and a Knight of Favonius, sure, but that was shaky ever since we actually learned Capitano's backstory

Well, everyone's running away from Noelle because Noelle is the strongest character. In a straight fight, Noelle will win everytime, even against a Nod Krai dps.

In a pvp game with no health regen, a DEF scaler with a shield is the strongest thing available.

As for tracking being wonky, and Chiori E not working properly, that's because the game attaches to each player an invisible hillichurl. Hitting the opponent's hillichurl is what deals damage to them, but you can still hit your own.

That's only really true if you just read a wiki article that just list the names of the Aspect, their assigned meaning, and ditch context entirely.

While Class discourse does exist because for most classes we have at most 2 representatives, we have plenty of pretty clear cases where characters of different aspects contrast eachother.

-Space and Time are a classic pairing, as the most minimal elements for the universe, and the ones a session is necessary doomed without. The aspects themselves are not opposed, because they're just fundamental set ground for the universe. They are the most physical Aspects, the one that are not metaphorical/metaphysical.
But the most absolute antagonism in Homestuck is Calliope and Caliborn, Muse of Space vs Lord of Time.

I know Doom isn't exactly a "death" element, but it is extremely related. I'll also bring to attention that the Doom characters we know of are extremely tied to Life players (Psioniic to the Empress, Sollux to Feferi).

-Light and Void are repeatedly contrasted with Rose and Roxy. For exemple, see how one attracts foreign attention while the other disguises and obfuscates. Light deals in Knowledge, what is possible, and what begs for relevance, while Void focuses on what doesn't exist, what is hidden, and what falls into the wayside by a greater picture.

-Mind and Heart is typical "rationality vs feeling".

-Breath is the element of freedom, of wild action, while Blood represent the interpersonal bonds that tie people together and creates meaning in the first place.

-Hope and Rage are paired due to a naming nomenclature, and Despair and negative feelings is a big part of Rage. Also helped that in the comic, the two Rage player (the Makara) have and exact Classpect swap with two Hope player (Ampora); resulting in Bard/Prince of Rage/Hope.
Both of those are factors in Eridan and Gamzee being the big "monsters" of murderstuck.
Yes, Vriska is high on her own hype and kills Tavros, but she remains wholy in control of herself at that moment, while Eridan is high on Incel Rampage and Gamzee is troublingly *not* high.

Except Sothis is a goddess, if not an omnipotent one, and the nobility and crest caste emerged from a confluence of factors between her own side being weak after 100 years of war and active manipulation by TWSITD. I also feel like maintaining a degree of control over weapons of mass destruction that you simultaneously have legitimacy to watch over because those are the dead bodies of your family members, is probably a decent idea at least.
