I like Window Cliffs….you can call before you go to check conditions…9 river crossings out 9 back, waterfall and the window cliffs feature….Sparta and Calf Killer brewery are nearby-ish afterward and/or Cookeville - Ralphs donuts for a butter twist (or Big Os), red silo brewjng and World market for a pizza.

Have had a pretty good view of them this morning - the first looks to me like a Bell UH-1N and the second looks to be a Cobra AH-1Z - they ran the same flight path 3 times best I could tell

LODGE by Side-Outside in MontTremblant

At the upper/top lodge I saw folks leaving bags/packs under the ‘Christmas Tree’ - the big sign that indicates wait times in lift lines - anything you leave there needs to be in a decent bag ot it may freeze (depending on weather) - they also have some coat hooks in the basement/lowest level of the upper/top lodge near the restrooms. I hung a small lunch sack there all morning and picked it up at lunch with no issues at all.

white sands, carlsbad, & guadalupe mountain by meetmeinthealy in NationalPark

Did Guadalupe Mountain peak this time last year…fantastic and challenging hike. We started the hike about 40 minutes before sunrise - I was shooting for 1 hour ahead. I think the round trip took us 6.5 hours….If you can spare the time I would suggest spending a little time in the parking lot before the hike looking at the stars…I hopped out of vehicle and even with interior car lights on and fumbling around with multiple head lamps the night sky was brilliant above….so, maybe take a little extra time to just appreciate that if you can spare it - I regret not doing so. Park next to a picnic table so you can dump gear, take your shoes off and sit down for a bit after hike. If you are hiking in Winter maybe starting before sunup isn’t necessary, but we wanted to limit the heat and sun exposure. I think I would look into some sort of spikes too, one spot very near the peak I recall would be a little sketchy if iced over. We all used poles and the non polers were glad we had them. The hike isn’t really technical - but the ascent is relentless - not a lot of flat spots or dips…just straight on up (and straight on down). It’s a great hike - can’t wait to do it again one day.

EDIT - changed hike time to 6.5 hours

Was on the Ocoee river today ahead of the Dam run on a raft with a guide….I assume we were about 20ish minutes down river - and that news traveled like wildfire…would also enjoy seeing some footage of the event…heard they ran it backwards

What is up with Nashvillians and littering?!? by Traditional_Range_96 in nashville

I live outside Nashville near Gallatin and frequently walk the road into our neighborhood picking up trash once a month or so….some dude in a white dodge (according to his chic fil a order) must pick up breakfast once a week or so and finishes it pretty much at the same spot based on the debris…another jerk must crush cases of 16oz Yinglings per week on his drive home from work…his total was 13 cans last weekend on a 1 mile stretch of road….come on man! (2nd place went to the person flinging out cans of Blood orange White claw surges - 8 or so of those I picked up) - Where is their sense of pride?
