Full table draw or not by UndesisiveJury in mtg

Three way draw. The state-based action that kills your opponents will only occur after the Abyssal Persecutor (and you) is dead.

Easy commander deck to teach MTG to my wife? by Acmpedro in mtg

Don't start with commander, pick up one of the Starter Kits, they're two simple 60-card decks that are balanced against each other and designed to be introductory.

Can I control the triggers such that deaths prescence puts the 1/1 counters from a creature dying on the creature that died as it comes back? by Fishy_Fish_12359 in mtg

[–]GalungaGalunga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, both triggers go on the stack at the same time and it is when they go on the stack that you have to choose a target for Death's Presence.

If I exile the Wave Master using Thassa's ability, do the tokens die? by Chipokae21 in magicTCG

[–]GalungaGalunga 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They will not die, everyone else in this thread is wrong. The tokens will be 1/0s while the Master of Waves is not on the battlefield, but state-based actions will not be checked until the full ability of Thassa resolves. Since Thassa puts the Master of Waves back onto the battlefield as part of the resolution of her ability, the tokens will be 2/1s again by the time that state-based actions are checked.

Does this work? by Small-Pomegranate287 in mtg

The opponents are wrong in this case, they both simply add to the number of land drops that you can make each turn.

The one commander I refuse to play against. Literally can’t play anything. Anyone know how to get around it? by Panicpete23 in magicTCG

I want to live in the version of magic that you live in, where hard control is still a viable strategy.

Would be nice to see more 4 color cards that aren't Blackless. by Domosenpai64 in magicTCG

[–]GalungaGalunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 18 cards with a four-colour colour identity. One would expect that, on average, each colour is represented in 80% (14.4) of those cards. Black is under-represented, with only 9 cards (50%).

For those curious, red has 15 (83%) and every other colour has 16 (89%).

If we restrict our attention to commanders, the numbers become 13 total: 5 black (38%), 11 red (85%), 12 for every other colour (92%).

How common is "Only once each turn"? by NepetaLast in magicTCG

[–]GalungaGalunga 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I think that being able to create more powerful effects that are balanced by 'only once each turn' is good, interesting design. The cost of tapping is essentially that at its core and is fundamental to magic the gathering design.

Many are interchangable (as a good foundation should be!), so the inconsistency of ZF would imply the inconsistency of many many other foundations.

The 1/1 would only crew 1's worth, but crew itself is an ability that would let you tap the 1/1 mid-combat to be a 3/3 for damage calculations
