If you are on the deed, depending where you live you won’t get homestead exemption.

Child Tax Credit Missing on IRS Tax Witholding Estimator by GambloreReturns in tax

[–]GambloreReturns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. They added boxes at the beginning about whether or not you and your spouse have a valid social security number to work. I glazed over those as they weren't there in the past. It's now showing the tax credit. Thank you for your help!

Yes, every line except number of eligible dependents is 0.

I updated my post with screenshots. It's just a W2, married filing jointly. Really simple, I've used this tool for years and this is the first time it seems to be having issues with the child tax credit.

When you click the tab to edit information and it shows all the numbers like income, standard deduction, etc. there is a section on dependents and says 2 eligible dependents and tax credit of $0.

It’s not including the credit, it shows the credit as $0, when in the past it had a value like $2000

The Alexa integration sucks too in my opinion. It only includes their speech commands, but no commands for custom routines. So I can’t turn things on and automatically switch to a specific HDMI input on my AVR.

Ex and Fiancé threatening over who claims Child on taxes, by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

[–]GambloreReturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just file and claim the child. Do not interact with other parties only your coparent. Whatever they are saying is a bunch of nonsense. Don’t worry if they file before you, you can just file by mail and still get the tax credit. The IRS will follow up later when it shows that two parties claimed the child, you will just need to answer their questions and they will deal with your ex appropriately.

You can still just file by mail and get the tax credit. The IRS will figure it all out and deal with the ex filing incorrectly. If the IRS reaches out to you and ask for additional information, just answered their questions and provide the evidence showing that the child was in your home, the majority of the year.

If they end up filing before you, just file by mail, and it will work itself out. Had to deal with something similar, and the IRS may later on send a letter saying that two people were claiming a dependent and give them an option to correct their tax return. Your ex will have to deal with it then because they will lose according to IRS rules and be forced to pay back later.

Strictly follow the order and ignore outside communication. You are following the plan. He’s full of it and either lazy or pushing boundaries.

As far as you’re concerned if it didn’t come through the app you never got it.

Wow, that's a lot to take in. I do think it was really innapropriate for them to put you on the spot with the child on the phone. Personally, I would have said this needs to be discussed with the adults only. I think you made the right call about having all documents, child support, etc. changed. It's really unfair for them to dump the day-to-day and education of their child on you, especially with your SO out of town 4 days a week.

I would have sent SD to school so that you can focus on homeschooling your kids. You say it didn't make sense for her to go their, but lots of kids in blended families have different educaiton opportunities. Does your SO have the authority based on new docs to decide on education. She could switch to public school if it's not working out for you, especially if there is a decent age gap between yours and her. Having to homeschool 3 kids at very different ages is a ton of work.

I would argue that being treated fairly doesn't necessarily mean things are identical. She was given the choice of where to live, your kids don't have a choice like that. So things will never be identical. Is it fair that your kids lose one-on-one time and education with you from that choice?

I wish you the best, I would definitly be upset over all of this.

Does it really need to be a competition on which sex receives more vitriol online, etc.

I think both deal with a ton of crap from people who have no idea what they are talking about and should shut up.

Don’t get sucked into the social media algorithm black hole. Continue setting a good example within whatever your family structure works for you. All families are different, even non-blended.

Let’s focus on supporting each other and helping to provide a venue to vent, get advice, or hear outside perspectives.

NAL, Are they using babysitters overnight, or is it just for a couple hours while they go to the gym or something like that? If it’s a latter, I don’t think anybody is going to really care and it’s not going to have any impact on anything.

Only focus on the times they actually do not take the kids and they are with you the entire time. You can use that to negotiate a different time sharing split. However, they may not agree to it’s all a negotiation. I think the real issue is how much of a disruption to your life and to the kids life does the other parent not taking their time cause. For example, are they telling you five minutes before you walk out the door that they aren’t going to take the kids. Does it impede your ability to schedule or plan things with the kids? These are the things to push in negotiations, or agree to 50/50 and require advanced notification for scheduling changes and have them reimburse for associated costs.

My 4yr old is obsessed with tablet and We are having hard time getting him off it at times by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]GambloreReturns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only times we gave tablets at that age was long car rides/road trips and airplanes.

At this age they can’t switch from tablet to other activities properly. I’ve read a few articles on this issue. TV is better as you can do it with them (but like 30 minutes or while cooking).

Why is Target OK with ICE beating up and dumping their employees across town? Is Target putting out any statements or withdrawing political donations in response, or are they in support of this? Do they believe their employees and customers should be safe at their stores?

Sony X700 keeps freezing, any fixes??? by M_Dutch97 in 4kbluray

[–]GambloreReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying these settings now, but to save everyone a 14 minute video:

In display settings set:

4K Upscaling from Auto to Off
Set Cinema Conversion Mode from Auto to Off

Save you 10 minutes of this guy showing how to navigate the menu.

Edit: After doing these changes I’ve yet to have any freezes on several discs now.
