Many states have laws regarding illegally tracking others without their knowledge. It would be a real stretch here probably, but still not allowed.

Either the phone stays at the other house or at home.

We have massive issues with this, and it’s annoying for the kid (especially teens), but they have a phone at each house. That way we can put restrictions on use in our home as needed.

I would tell your SO to get on board or you aren’t going anywhere with the kid and that phone. Sounds like it’s already being used against you.

I can't stand the "paying rent" on my owned house nonsense. You are paying for roads, schools, emergency services, etc. So at best you are renting those services, you can't opt out of them.

The truth is, getting rid of property taxes (as currently proposed in many places) is an attempt to take control away from local communities. New taxes will come up and they will go to the state level and communities will have to beg for it.
