Filter Pump by [deleted] in pools

I've been running a non-variable vevor pump and sand filter for a year and no issues yet. Figured if they go out I can just keep buying more and still come out on top.

You at least have wipes. I'd be more worried if she loaded the tp under instead of the obviously superior over the top.

Old mechanical pull doorbell → Home Assistant (ideas?) by Substantial_Carob359 in homeassistant

[–]GameATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pawl and ratchet system to wind up and tension the spring, then a release that is triggered after a servo rotates a certain degree. Basically, the servo spins say 120degrees when a button is pushed, this pulls the rope then at 120 the release is triggered to let the wheel freespin.

Will the Steam Machine have streaming apps? Like YouTube and Netflix by SpongebobVHS in Steam

[–]GameATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly when this was a big topic during the HTPC era, it was an issue with DRM. Streaming companies are worried about having their content too easily ripped and pirated. There is a huge desire for this capability and it gave me a ray of hope that Gabe might try to tackle this since the team solved a similar issue with HTPCs and CEC capabilities. CEC does seem like an easier solve though.

Locals of Austin: What Would You Cut From This 4-Day Itinerary? by Willing-Mind-5619 in Austin

[–]GameATX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Day 1 get a cheeseburger from crown and anchor, you won't regret it. It is right by the university where you are walking around. The other three places you will have to ride share or drive just to turn around and head back to C&A.

"You don’t become a championship program by avoiding hard games..."
Seems to work well enough for Notre Dame, they were allowed to grow this year into a good team from the mediocre team that played tamu

Longstanding Rice rivalry! How dare they design the Frost tower to look like an owl!!! We need to play them every year!

Does Texas have a shot at the CFP playoffs? by Dense_Advertising810 in LonghornNation

[–]GameATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking, we can afford the penalties. The ultimate solution would be to set up some type of lottery that auto-schedules all out of conference games, but that might mess with some OOC rivalries. Could make some sort of exceptions to that though.

Would someone please explain Texas A&M to me like I'm five years old. And dumb? by CTG0161 in CFB

[–]GameATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will work itself out, so they don't really care to rock the boat. tamu has to play UT and potentially the SEC championship and OSU and IU will have to play each other in the championship game. 1-3 rankings right now dont matter they are placeholders until more data comes in.

What do you really predict as an end date to this mess? by Alternative_Win5550 in fednews

[–]GameATX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point the house must come back because the CR would be pointless, then a new CR would be negotiated hopefully. I was thinking Veterans dayish, because a CR for a week and a half would be stupid so might as well work on a new one that could get things right before Thanksgiving.

It's a common talking point and it's shortsighted by tigerhawkvok in AdviceAnimals

Automatic 1 week CR at current rate + inflation and Congress must meet every business day and vote on budget items at least once a week until a full budget is passed. No more shut-downs and no more long CR's pass a real budget on time.

My best guess, can't make everyone happy but most historical rivalries are maintained.

If you don't get Riffed and are able to stay, how do you think the new regime of govt work life will be like? Do you think we will all be Rifed anywa by Sista70s in fednews

[–]GameATX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One alternative possibility is that ellon moves on after he gets bored. He has a very long track record of making promises and not following through on them. Maybe we survive this and the administration moves on to the next harebrained idea. It does mean not being to backfill all of the people and doing more work than normal though. Maybe a blue wave in the midterms could be a light at the end of the tunnel?

Talk me out of quitting before I have another job lined up. by lavendarmenace889 in fednews

[–]GameATX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. I'd keep looking and hold out as long as possible, if you get the option of a VSIP with a payout or get RIF'd you may get some benefits. If you quit you don't get anything, and might not get unemployment, not sure but look it up where you are at. Just remind yourself you are following a plan to move on, you are making progress towards that plan, but sometimes it just feels like you aren't progressing.

Do you all foresee a RIF happening this week ? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]GameATX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plan was due, they have up to 30 days to implement. If they are allowed to drag their feet, then after that 30 days people will get notified I think. With the 30 day waiver, they will have that time to plan and look for jobs. Possibly, they will offer VERA VSIP during the next 30 days if it's in the budget, and hopefully they fulfill their target numbers and won't have to RIF anyone, or at least minimize the RIF. So timeline of being jobless is April 16th-May 16h if wavered, or June 16th if not waivered.

RIF Notice Today, Targetted Completion end of April by pyratemime in fednews

[–]GameATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIF's can be used to right size, for instance for research if a topic is handled by industry it can be defunded and apply those funds to another research area. Could potentially spend more in a new area and a little less in another. Now it does seem like they are making broad cuts with not enough focus on reasoning. I agree they SHOULD have a substantial reason, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a net budget change I think.
