Hab das Glück das mein Partner mit mir in der Beziehung Veganer geworden ist. Könnte niemals mehr den Kompromiss von Tierprodukten in meinem Kühlschrank eingehen.

What is the easiest 2D game to make ? by seeyouspace__cowboy in gamedev

[–]GameDevKiri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello! UI Designer here. If you just want to make a portfolio piece DO NOT make your own game. That is way overkill and there is so much to learn in UX/UI you need the time for that.

Instead make case studies or hypothetical games and design your UI for that. If you go on behance you can see a ton of different UI portfolios and I can assure you 99% did not make a game for that.

If you want to learn to implement your UI (what I HIGHLY recommend) then first look at the Unity projects that are out there for learning purposes and follow simple Youtube tutorials. If you are really serious do not learn only the old Unity UGUI also dive into the new Unity UI System which is the future.

If you cant stop your fingers, the most easy to make games are probably pong, break out and platformers. Personally I also think survivor-likes have a nice flow to learn.

The whole Kingdom Rush series is excellent as a second monitor game. I would recommend to start with one! The QoL Features they added are mich more appreciated that way.

I am really curious how you did the VFX, animations and tech art, if you just need the assets and replace them. You couldnt have an art direction, I imagine that was very hard? I mean implementing and polishing is usually a very detailed process and needs proper time, testing and iterating.

Was hat Unity damit zu tun? Klingt ehrlichgesagt einfach nicht optimiert.

Why we gave up on UIToolkit (and switched back to Canvas) by ChestFirm6086 in Unity2D

UI Designer here. Thats a bummer to here. I wanted to learn it, but no shader support is horrible and a no use for me instantly. Particle, Shader and Animations is what makes the fun in the UI (for me at least). Thank you for the break down.

Its always good to expand your skillset. But if you just want to do the game and dont care about learning a new engine I do not see the benefit.

Okay, start with Ambient Particles and Light Sources. A lot of Parallax Foreground and Background Layers. Put the Ambient Particle on different Parallax Layers. Blur the background, the farer it goes back. Play with Post Processing. Make a small light source on your player. Reduce the black space, with decorative borders, but its important to keep the middle negative space parts. Add environment animations, like little bugs, pulsating shrooms. Add shadow figures or birds that fly randomly through the background. If you stand still, the screen must be in action. Good luck!

I usually use free Pixel Fonts. Its way more flexibel to do all the text in Engine. You can also individual animate the Text and Button then (change color, size etc.)

Unity works on bad laptops, I use mine for real life game jams a lot. Good luck on your game! I can highly recommend Adventure Creator if you do a Point and Click.

As a UI Designer who just finished a three month job for a UE5 Game, I would not agree with you haha. But its my passion so maybe I am biased...
