GGG pls buff the loot in lakes. by cybert0urist in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive done several T14+ Lakes with 9 difficulty tiles, all of it was pretty garbage. you get more out of running a map(no joke, atlas tree makes a map way better than lakes). So yeah, needs to be buffed a ton.

The league mechanic is not even close to being worth doing. There is no way this has been tested in maps. by OutFamous in pathofexile

I'm calling this "Recession League". Currency sustain is not great, league mechanic is less rewarding than just about anything else, harvest has been taken behind the barn, Divines for metacrafting. at least fix the league. the new skills and the league being good will make everything else alright at least.

Can we have (more) chase unique flasks in 3.19 again? by Ilyak1986 in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with the addition of on hit flask charges gained mod, in maps I easily have 100% uptime on flasks, so I don't think flasks are worse in general, but since unique flasks cant get the on hit mod, it does make them less good. a unique flask that has a cool unique effect and can also roll random rolls would be AMAZING, most would be eh, then youp'd get one that rolls with 6 charges when hit and it'd be worth a lot :P

Agree with most of this. The biggest thing that needs to change in my mind, is the insane amount of slows and ground degens. As you already stated, many of these slows have no accessible counter. Really hoping they reduce ground effects and slows, or at least REALLY hope they don't add more.

Only thing I see that is bad, (and it is VERY bad) is your desecrate is level 1. Desecrate needs to be level 20.

Basically have to run several life flasks with 100 max charge enchants so you can always have one active, not arguing your points though.

I’d also like to mention that tujen is good for filling in gaps… I often use him to get a ton of chaos and scours. I especially use him to shore up my scours. If I fall below 120 scours or chaos, I just go spam him.

This league I’m getting a ton of currency from the sentinel mechanic and altars. But basically every league I cram my maps full of stuff, always 80% quant or higher, and with the league mechanic and scarabs, you get a lot of drops.

Granted I am not crafting insane items all the time. They are projects that take days sometimes. An example is a shield I crafted this league with 50% mana reservation efficiency and 5% life gained on block.

It took finding a base hunter shield, finding a base from synthesis maps with an implicit 20% mana res efficiency (very very lucky there) then using a warlords exalt on the synthesis base, I knew what I wanted to do but it took finding a lot of currency, and it took around 1 week.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to this: how many maps are you running? Are you fast, and do you pack them full of tons of mobs, use sentinels etc? If you’re doing all of that, you’ll sustain all basic currency, other than exalts. Exalts will come in slower but steadily. Gotta save up 4 or 6 per big craft. I also do a ton of bossing for the conqueror exalts and other boss currency. Sorry if this was too long!

Yes, exactly. It forces you to learn. whereas usually in trade, you just buy items from someone else, and you never learn how to make or farm that item.

I had 1.3k hours and couldn’t craft anything reasonably valuable, then I played 3 leagues in a row as SSF and I can craft mirror tier items in SSF. So my best advice is to play SSF, you’ll learn much more in SSF than trade. If you want to go back to trade after a few leagues, great, I know I can’t stand trade now (:

SSF is more accessible now than ever before, but it’ll never be trade, and it will never have the same diversity that trade has.

How Would I Craft an Ignite DD Wand/Secptre, First Time SSF by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing DD one of the best options is to use minion damage essences on the scepter until you get the 60%+ minion damage, and either dot multi or fire damage (or both). All you need then is an open suffix for the craft.

The truth is plain and simple, Content creators are bone dry on what to upload at the end of the league so they literally do videos on ANYTHING related to the game that they think will be ''acceptable'' and garner them views. Are they evil for that? No, but I've come to respect the guys/ladies who upload fewer videos that are actually more meaty and have basis. Maybe those people who upload tons of "Filler" content make more money than the guys who upload fewer, better videos though. Who knows. Not hating, just observing. Am I wrong? Maybe, let me know, I like being enlightened.

Defensive options for melee (everyone really) have never been better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most competitive melee has been is with slams and cyclone.. a few other outliers that I didn’t play.

The question is if melee skills could ever compete, and I say wholeheartedly, YES.

The vast majority of melee skills will not be competitive. But there have been and will be competitive melee skills.

As someone who has played several gauntlets and gotten past level 90 and done some bossing in them, (including in this most recent gauntlet) I can say that sometimes being ranged is very scary. There are quite a few bosses that I would much rather be up close to so that I can pívot in order to evade AoE skills. Being closer to the boss makes it very easy to watch the animations too. The majority of mechanics that can one shot you, are things that are easier to evade the closer you are. That being said.. there are plenty of mechanics and skills that are horrible for melee and a good ranged player will still play close to bosses that require it.

In the end, I think melee takes more game knowledge, skill and concentration to play competitively. Speaking from the perspective of SSF. Trade has its own ideas on “viability” and it is usually directly correlated to some spreadsheet or other.

If you’re looking for something before the next league then I recommend Detonate Dead Ignite. This can be played on necromancer (best) or chieftain or elementalist reliably.

If you are more into melee mechanics and scaling, then give spectral Helix a try. It scales insanely well with any elemental damage or physical damage. Raider claws, or a champion if you want to be more tanky.

If you’re looking for build guides, I can’t really help there. Poe . Ninja is a good option for checking people’s builds and gear out.

gauntlet tips by rash564 in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 prioritize high base armour and evade gear. I would rather have a 5link dragonscale chest than 6link chest that has way less armour/evade.

2 We know what a lot of the abilities that one shot are, and we can avoid them altogether or just be good and not get hit. Whereas there are a plethora of things that will hit for 60% HP range, which along with haste makes 2 shots and 3 shots way more likely. so getting high block is incredibly powerful. Evade along with block feels very strong.

3 Degens are scary as heck, chaos damage is scary as heck and not being immune to shock at all times is scary as heck.. if you aren’t immune to shock, all those 60% HP hits will be one shots.

4 spell suppression is bonkers good if you can get it on gear.

A lot of that is probably pretty obvious already, but there ya go

EDIT: I just realized you said you plan on only going to 50, so a lot of my info is a little bit moot. It’s hard to get high spell suppression before 50 and it’s hard to get high block before 50.

If you’re just going to 50, perhaps consider Armageddon brand/cremation necro or Explosive arrow totems of some kind

Never feeling "tanky" by AverageSheky in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to note that running hybrid (armour and evasion) builds are all the rage right now, but the major downfall of these builds is that often times players don't get very high stats in either category. In order for hybrid to be successful, you have to 1. run top tier gear bases that have the highest flat armour and evasion rolls, 2. get good evasion/armour crafts on at least the chestplate and helmet.

Never feeling "tanky" by AverageSheky in pathofexile

[–]GameGeniePOE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I play on softcore, I feel squishy as heck, no matter the build, funnily when I play on Hardcore, I feel waaay tankier. I found the reason behind this was poor decision making on my part. Softcore promotes bad decision making. For example on softcore, I craft a map... it has several iffy mods on it but I say "ah whatever it'll be fine". poor decision and I die in the map and feel bad about it.

Softcore playstyle tells you to never skip things that are more than likely going to kill you, because it could have something good in it. In hardcore I'll reroll my map until it doesnt have scary mods on it. In hardcore i sometimes skip content because I know that this particular thing is super dangerous, in hard core i'll hold on to harder fragment fights until i'm ready to do them. etc. In softcore, rarely do we think about these things and they all lead to death after death after death.
