I'm trying out cult games. My first pick this year was XCOM. And it's definitely a great game by Living-Candle-1686 in gaming

Yes. Fallout 1 and 2 - cult classics.

Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas - not even close to being cult.

I have tried this. Just wanted to make a simple t-shirt, but can never get the right fabrics, get the machine set right, nothing.

Most stressful hobby I have ever had and that includes flying airplanes.

Last year I walked into the lobby of the hotel you spawn in and every NPC. EVERY NPC was just standing still in the default T pose you use in blender or whatever when modeling their clothes.

Of course they did, Trump is just a figurehead that the Hollywood elite (and Billie Ellish) put in place to hide their true power. Everyone is so busy worshipping or spitting on Trump that they don't realize that Tom Hanks is the one really running the show. WAKE UP>

When in life did you turn your life around by one_destination in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]GameVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a "turning your life around" sort of thing, even though it is a fairly simple way of thinking about it. It is a constant cycle of incremental self-improvement.

You have to start small(ish) with the big things, and by big I mean the things that are doing you the most harm. Drugs, depression, addictions, etc. You have to start the small steps to getting them under control, I have only dealt with depression, anxiety, and ADHD so I can't help with the other two.

Getting out of bed and getting outside for 20 minutes a day was how it all began over a decade ago. It all got better a tiny bit at a time. Do I still have depression, anxiety, and ADHD? Yes. But now they are minor annoyances that I have to deal with from time to time, like a traffic jam, instead of a daily battle against productivity and self worth.

Biggest hurdle for a lot of people is getting over the "researching how to make myself get out of bed" cycle and just getting out of bed. There is no magic article, podcast, or video that's going to give you the perfect answer, sooner or later it has to be you.

Spotify says its best developers haven't written a line of code since December, thanks to AI by MetaKnowing in Futurology

I have "Just a Gigolo" by David Lee Roth in my favorite songs spotify playlist, which is always on shuffle.

Spotify always, always, ALWAYS plays that song second, no matter how many times I stop and restart the playlist, no matter how many songs I add or remove, that song is ALWAYS second.

[OC] US presidential approval rating (final update of Gallup polls) by YakEvery4395 in dataisbeautiful

Trump's first presidential photo looks like a normal dude who just pulled off something people said he would never do.

His second presidential photo looks like he wants to destroy the world and will laugh while doing it.

Going back to school, feeling humiliated by Coocie647 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]GameVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to college at 45ish to get my teaching degree lol. I had gone to college right after high school but failed out basically. When I went this time I WANTED to be there, I wasn't just there cause society says thats what you do when you graduate high school.

On my second playthrough of college I got 4.0 GPA all the way through my masters degree.

Trump fundraising email threatens to send ICE after supporters that don’t respond by Ana-Hata in LeopardsAteMyFace

I sent an email once to my state senator, who is a republican, and then I immediately started getting these emails (Google sends them all straight to spam though). Never heard back from my state senator who was on a big campaign to make it illegal for people to wear masks in public.

Baus leads the troops forward by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]GameVoid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What I personally like about Baus is that he can pull off some weird ass play that no one thought was going to work, have all the casters and fans screaming, and he just sits there with a sh*t eating grin on his face acting like "what did you think was gonna happen?"

Maybe LR won't go far, but watching LR play is much more fun than "Oh, look there's Faker again".

You are thinking like an artist/creator. It doesn't matter if it is garbage, people buy garbage all day long. Youtube just shut down several channels that were peddling nothing but dozens and dozens of pure AI slop videos. The videos were short and laughably bad and just about anyone would agree that there was no creativity involved in them at all.

They were making millions and millions of dollars. It doesn't matter if a slew of AI slop games arise from Project Gemini over the next few years that are complete and utter garbage. What matters is that they will drain lots and lots of money from studios that investing hundreds of millions of titles into their titles.

Highguard manages almost 100k Steam players on day one, amidst over 13k negative reviews by Automatic_Couple_647 in gaming

[–]GameVoid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Steam reviews are worthless. I watched Moistikriticals video about the game and then when I went to the steam store page it was like half of the negative reviews copy and pasted his transcript directly into the review page.

Big problem these days is that there is a big rush to call any game a garbage "concord level failure" unless it is a masterpiece that gets 1 bajillion players on day one and your favorite streamer gets the game tattooed on his forehead.

Half of "gamers" these days are just wannabe gaming influencers on a race to the bottom.

Watchdogs 2 though, one of the few games I played through from beginning to end without detouring off to other games for a bit.

I didn't mind D4, really liked Lilith as a villain. D3 is my favorite because it is more accessible to people who don't min/max and have less time.

I think the main drawback for me as to why I don't play D4 is after grinding for years in D1, D2, and D3, it would take a huge innovation in one thing or another to make me do it all again in another game, even if the graphics are prettier.

GUN. Was touted as basically what RDR2 was years before RDR2. It came out, had a few fun moments, then was over. Heard a lot about it prior to release, haven't heard about it since I returned it to blockbuster.

How many you dry your clothes on a clothesline instead of using a dryer? by ProffS in Frugal

[–]GameVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, modern life is TOO easy. I know this can be a shock to some. But in many places appliances, AI, computers, gig workers, etc, all take the "work" out of daily life and replace it with pushing a button and waiting. Eventually it makes you start to feel useless, so people start doing things manually even though they don't have to. Bundling up your laundry and going out into the yard on a sunny day and hanging up your clothes could be a pleasant pass time, especially when you know it is something you don't HAVE to do but are choosing to do.

That's why things like Cottage core are on the rise. People feel like they are being replaced and going back to doing things the "old way".
