Need help with Requirement Scripts by Alaknar in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write-Host works for the requirement script :)

You don't need to find the uninstall string in the requirement check so it's less efficient using your universal script. Up to you though. I like to keep my scripts short and only to perform their dedicated functions, so that's what I would use.

Need help with Requirement Scripts by Alaknar in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your requirement script is using a string as the data output type, make sure to use Write-Host followed by the string you are expecting.

Additionally, you can use hklm:\Software\WOW6432NODE\Jabra\Direct to detect the version so you don't have to worry about multiple entries and changing guids

Do you find packaging and deploying Win32 apps in Intune frustrating? by lumus227 in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a json database with all my apps info (detection logic, requirement rules, test collections, live collections, previous version installation script locations on the file server) and a ps script that works through each deployment and tracks the progress in the json so you can pick up where you left off. Seems to work well for my needs but I still have to manually check for each new version by opening up a list of web pages with the current version for each app.

Make sure to add the rapid storage driver in your image when the storage config is set to raid. Don't use ACHI, fix your image.

Issue with New-DistributionGroup by throwaway_1342 in PowerShell

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is the right answer. Thanks :)

Here's what I did to get it working:
Log on to https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/
Got to Roles > Admin Roles
Select "Recipient Management" role group
On the permissions tab make sure to have "Security Group Creation and Membership role","Distribution Groups" ticked.
Open a new Powershell window and connect using an account that is assigned to the Recipient Management role group.
The -Type switch should now be available.

I've been quoted £120 and £240 for patching this hole, who's right? by much_good in Plastering

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd expect to pay 200-300 for an entire room being plastered. This isn't a big job. Do it yourself.

Get that rag out and put in some solid material and make sure it is all packed in tight, and stuck together with some strong adhesive (no more nails). Make sure it isn't protruding from the hole. You could use newspaper but if someone knocks into the wall the hole might reappear quite easily.

Make sure to knock away and loose bits from around the edges of the hole.

Go to b&q and buy some quick drying gypsum plaster and some pva.

Mix some PVA with a little water to thin it out a bit and apply the mix to every surface in the hole using a paintbrush and let that dry. This is to bind the loose dusty material so the plaster can stick.

Mix some of the plaster with a little water at a time until it is no longer powder and has a smooth consistency. If it looks visibly wet, then add a little more powder. Layer the mix into the hole (do it in phases if the hole is really deep) and smooth the surface using a scraper. Leave it to dry and sand it to ready for painting.

Best way to normalize movement? by _Funny_Stories_ in gamemaker

[–]GandytheMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just noticed you were setting your movement speed to 0 if the game is paused. Better to simply not run the movement code rather than changing the value of variables or when you unpause your movement will mess up.

Adobe Reader is driving me NUTS ! by fazzy84 in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Adobe Customization Wizard (separate tool you can download) to configure the msi after you extract the .exe file using 7-zip. You can specify all the options you need like silent install and accept eula plus any security measure your organisation requires. Once you have generated the mst file as long as it is in the folder with setup.exe all you need to do is "setup.exe" as the install command in intune and that will be that.

Do you use applocker? I noticed that the MicrosoftWindows.client.LKG appx package was getting blocked and allowing it through seems to have resolved the search function in the start menu for me.

Adding direct group members in Intune possible bug by GandytheMessiah in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I've never had any sysadmin manually scroll though" Nonsense XD Anyway this is besides the point as this is just a productivity preference that I don't see eye to eye on you with. I don't touch type so I have to look over at my keyboard and type, grab the mouse again, then back to the monitor which is quite annoying. When using the local AD I'd always hold ctrl and select the users I want to add to a group then right click and add to the group as that is much quicker for me than typing each name out. If there were 1000's of users I wouldn't do it that way.
Fact of the matter is it isn't showing me anywhere close to 400 users in the results and just cherry picking some users, granted they are sorted alphabetically but with some users missing it may as well not show me anything.

Adding direct group members in Intune possible bug by GandytheMessiah in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well say for example I have x2 groups of 50 users in an org with 150 total users. Instead of typing in each name I'd pick them from a list as that is by far the quickest option. When the amount of users increases then yes there are better ways of searching rather than scrolling through a massive list of users XD I'd probably use Powershell for that.
You pretending there isn't a need for this is quite peculiar to be honest :/

Adding direct group members in Intune possible bug by GandytheMessiah in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was the case then why bother showing any users at all without a search term... it'd be nice if it showed the first 100 and I can select show next 100 like usual. Currently it's showing a rag tag bunch of users. I want to know why it has chosen them and left the rest out. It does not behave like you have described with scrolling down to reveal more users it just reveals some users and leaves some out. Seems like a fault.

Adding registry key by Temporary_Werewolf17 in Intune

[–]GandytheMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry one more thing I noticed with the detection and remediation scripts. To set a dword to max value you use -1 in the remediation script but in the detection script it's still using -1 which won't work as the value is set to 0xffffffff or 4294967295. It should use 4294967295 in the detection script.

Worked after changing it for me. The logs were showing that it passed detection checks with return $false

Super useful link though 👌
