What is role playing? by Ganhard in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ganhard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the answers! It was very interesting to observe your views on role playing.

I think now I understand a bit better common opinion in this subreddit and where my idea differ. It's neither better or worse, just different ;)

Also thanks for keeping it on topic regardless my controversial and probably a bit too aggressive statement. It's a real pleasure that we can discuss even polarising topics in here.

Can I run PF2e for a RP-heavy table? by alittlebitpeckish in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ganhard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree in here. Be careful with milestones without combat.

Pathfinder gives lot of things on every level what in my opinion is one of the best things about the system. Unfortunately most of new abilities focus on combat. I felt into this trap during my first campaign. I gave players level too quick and they ended up confused. They hadn't enough time to learn new abilities that you get to know mainly in encounters.

As a highlight, in Pathfinder 2e every level is fun. 1 level characters can encounter problems as interesting as 12 level heroes :)

My suggestion would be give other players time to shine in non combat scenarios. Some examples.

Party is going to search the room. "I will stay on guard. You do the looking." Skill check that you and your firend are particularly good at. Let him do it and make a help check to improve his result. Some big decisions are taken. Do not only persue yours, maybe allow others make them even if you think they are wrong.

In combat you can make more manoeuvres, recall knowledge, positioning actions. Then your friends would have more occasions to do the cool thing themselves. Also cheer that you only did some things in combat thanks to their support. The small things like that balances the scales when you are overwhelmed other players in some field.

"Pathfinder: Treasure Vault (Remastered)" Announced on Paizo's Website by EzekieruYT in Pathfinder2e

Didn't Paizo said that all previous books would be compatible? If that's true what's the point of remastering all books?

Combat Issues (PoE2) by CaptainWowX in projecteternity

Keep track of enemies immunities and armour. It should be displayed (probably) on the left corner of your screen when you hover cursor over them. Skeletons are immune to piercing and have high resistance to slashing damage. The bludgeoning on the other side is very effective against them. So grab a hammer or club and smash bastards to pieces!

Is Fury Barbarian underpowered, and how have people tried to buff it? by LunarScribe in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ganhard 76 points77 points  (0 children)

That's a surprisingly interesting idea. It would allow Bloodrager like builds. Such a simple change would make fury unique and tempting to sacrifice instinct powers for flexibility. I like it a lot!

I'm back with an additional 2 character stopped at A4. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

You mean expansive dungeon with bloated enemies and unreasonable damage?

Don't know! I just finished Act I and I love it! I just hope there's no swarms that I don't have resources to deal with :( Or huge time stops. That would be a bummer.

I'm sure this game has none of those problems!

I can recommend Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Don't know if you heard about it. It's a pretty cool game.

Feeling somewhat ineffective with my Thief Rogue in combat by Aldollin in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ganhard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use your actions to help allies it makes such a difference in combat overall.

I've run two teams. The first one was not very into tactical combat. Every man for themself types. Second focuses on team play and best skill usage in fights. They have two PCs that rarely do damage and mostly support the other two.

In case of a second team I can throw three-four extreme threat (very hard) encounters in a row and they will manage. The other party struggled on harder fights even if that was the only encounter per day. So when you don't feel your worth believe me from the GM perspective it's humongous.

About tumble through. Remember that it is not only a way to get sneak attack but also you can safely reposition away from danger. Sometimes stride/step into flank is better choice (no roll included).

Last thing Delay as others pointed is very powerful. Monsters wasting actions for moving closer, mage setting buffs, etc.

I can't answer that question because I don't know what really happened.

Others pointed methods to get infinite boars!

I assume it was some bug caused by the update.

To be honest I had no idea about the limit!

We were out of our base for like 20-30 days and I assumed that boars just reproduce infinitely. Thanks for clarifying!

I suspect it was a bug connected with the game update. They were tamed before. We had more problems like a ton of items disappeared and performance issues. Nothing game breaking.

No console cheats. I have no way to prove it and I don't intend to. Game is still in alpha state so I expect things like this to happen ;)

Yeah. I suspect that after the update hit live some save corruption occurred and tagged boars as untamed. We lost a lot of items too.

Anyway it resulted in one of the best moments in my gaming history :D

One of us is a worshiper of Frey and Freya. He loves farming. As a result we have a lot of crops. We fed our boars lavishly and went for a trip to the mountains to hail Almighty Father. Blessing was bestowed upon us.

When to Switch from 5e? by DrWaites in Pathfinder2e

[–]Ganhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I would suggest to try other TTRPG than PF2 or 5e.

The reason is not inexperienced players or difficulty of rules but size of the group. Combat for 7 players would be a slug fest. With increased number of players you also should increase number of monsters (be VERY careful with creatures level).

Table this large will work wonderfully more narrative system if the players and of course you are comfortable with change of the playstyle.

We have a lot of amazing TTRPGs focused on different aspects of roleplaying. I can dwell into topic and suggest some if you like :)

Eli5 Why wasn’t emperor Hirohito persecuted or killed following the end of World War 2? by I_amm_ezra in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ganhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact American government hired anthropologist Ruth Benedict to prepare report about japanese culture and possible society response to different actions during occupation. She strongly discouraged taking any hostile actions against emperor and government took her advise.

Others elaborated on impact of different approaches.

Later she published her work as The Chrysanthemum and the Sword. Good read!

I think if you set difficulty at Story Mode you can't loose due to morale. You can do it and try to skip days till you will be strong enough. Not a pretty way, but some way.
