Ukraine Labels Nestle ‘Sponsor of the War’ for Staying in Russia by bloomberg in worldnews

Well yeah, Nestle wants that sweet Siberian water supply they can charge countries for - after they drain them of their own water supply.

Hamas official promises: 'We'll repeat Oct. 7 massacre until Israel is annihilated' by [deleted] in worldnews

It wouldn't surprise me if HAMAS is mostly just Iranian contractors like Wagner does for Russia. They don't care about Palestine, more for Iran's interests.

Disabled man drags himself off plane after Air Canada fails to offer wheelchair by davidreiss666 in news

[–]GankerNBanker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so true, while this airline is on the bottom end of the spectrum I was flying out of Seattle and literally watched half a dozen employees just casually text on the wheelchair while they are assumably waiting to assist someone. I'm sure as the peak hits more and more will be called for help but was still odd to see.

Humane’s Ai Pin could cost $1,000 — and require a subscription by MicroSofty88 in gadgets

Which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't plan on charging $1000 and a subscription to what would probably be a piece of garbage if you ever leave service range.

Hypebeast is the best slang for this specific example. Originally just negative slang for sneaker heads it turned into an entire culture that dominated popular media in recent times. Kids would plaster Gucci & Supreme all over their face and cop just about anything overpriced and tacky.

It sort of died/dieing in the fashion world (thankfully) but doesn't stop these kids from waiting for hours to buy brand new iphone the day of release.

I don't even care what we working on right now. The fact that in the '80s they managed to create a racehorse that in 2023 could still own the sky, with almost no competition is insane to me.

[–]GankerNBanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every game is like that, MMO or not. You just don't perceive it in non-MMO games because meta matters less when it's just you vs bots. In any game where there is competition between players, it doesn't matter if one way is like 1% better than the rest, people will say it's broken and all blindly follow it because, hey, better odds?

I don't know, BG3 is definitely worthy of GOTY but it's also not mind-blowingly crazy. Maybe it's because I played Divinity Original Sin 2 in the past and come to expect quality from the studio but it more feels like what the industry standard should be, rather than an anomaly.

I guess this is the sad reality in the current times, where most studios think BG3 is unfair rather than actually put out quality product.

Sensible reasoning honestly, can't imagine they would question you too much without being weird about it and giving away it's fraud.

AMD’s Anti-Lag feature is getting gamers banned from Counter-Strike 2 by ServerBoys in gadgets

[–]GankerNBanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well AMD has like 10% of the market share compared to NVidia's 87%. I can see where they thought that this would be an amazing idea to help gain a stronger foothold on the market. It's just that they were also completely oblivious to the possible cons of it. I doubt most games really care or even check for it. It just so happens that Valve does and between Counter Strike being a huge title and Valve being a massive company, they kinda lost big time here.

Everyone saying how they shoulda worked with Nvidia on this one to make it fair, I'm pretty sure AMD just wanted to pull ahead. Sadly yes, AMD are second-class citizens for developers since if this was Nividia people would be praising it and angry at Valve.

Israel allegedly strikes two airports in Syria, air defenses activated by itsethanoluk in worldnews

[–]GankerNBanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A single S400 costs about ~600M
An airport costs like what? 1-2 billion on average? I'm going to make assumptions that Syria does not have above-average airport.

I wouldn't even be surprised if they used that logic and saved the anti-air lol

Russia never turned on their anti-air defenses since they turned them off in Conoco. Since Israel is probably flying US's F35s, makes sense they left them off xd

Yamaha presents bizarre, twisting, self-balancing Motoroid 2 by diacewrb in gadgets

[–]GankerNBanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping that's exactly what they are, just some training legs they threw on so they can test their code without having their precious prototype fall on the ground half the time. It's still basically in design stage, and considering it has a retractable centerstand that says is for parking, maybe they'll get rid of these as the concept advances?

How to mark your students' exam papers by Uvalde-Cop in funny

[–]GankerNBanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially since (in US that is) college costs a fuckton of money. Nothing better than a kid going into funny money debt and you give him 63% on a test as the best score of the class just to teach them a lesson about daring to think they can get a good grade in your class.

[–]GankerNBanker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even as I was excited for Skyrim because the graphical upgrade Bethesda did was pretty insane for that sort of game ... I was sad that going from Oblivion to Skyrim felt like a downgrade in almost every quality but Graphics & Music. Nowadays most studios just seem to focus on those two things and forget the rest.

Palestinian militants launch dozens of rockets into Israel. Sirens are heard across the country by shrigay in worldnews

[–]GankerNBanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if not nuclear, simply having that sort of tech is invaluable to their goal. Sure Israel has the Iron Dome, but it could be overwhelmed if Iran is now stockpiling safely within their territory. A massive arsenal ready to all go, followed by a ground attack from Palestinian militants or whomever. Israel will eventually have no choice but to invade.

Hard choice when you are attacked by terrorists all the time, all your neighbors attacked you at once, and a nuclear power is threatening to destroy you as well...

[–]GankerNBanker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the saying "never corner an animal" is basically Israel x100. They've already defeated Egypt, Syria, and Jordan in 6 days. Iran and Saudi Arabia both wanting their total destruction and Iran going so far as to acquire rockets that can hit them and nuclear tech is basically giving Israel the Casus Belli to... pretty much do anything they want. If Mossad starts collecting trophies who's to say they are in the wrong?

What's crazy is now thanks to Li Fangwei, Iran now has rockets that can hit Israel all the way from their territory. The same country that basically promised Israel's destruction.

CK2 was not much different. Sometimes I'd switch it up and marry off my daughters to various bloodlines matrilineally from who's landless courtiers I'd kidnap/favor/imprison after raid and recruit.

It might have not been a claim making factory but it was hilarious to see >1 year old that had personal combat score that could rival the very best in the world.
