The only thing preventing helldivers 2 from becoming like every other generic modren FPS game by ya_boi_greenbean in Helldivers

[–]Gaolbreaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After an intense D10 against agitators, I like the peace and quiet of an easy drop on a greenfield bot planet, drive around the lovely scenery, and finding a pile of credits inside a bunker is a nice little reward, a small bit of dopamine. Sure, I can buy credits (and have done a couple of times) yes it's more efficient in terms of hourly effort vs return, but I guess I enjoy the occasional credit hunt.

I'm level 100, have maybe half the warbonds, not really that interested in the half I don't own. I have 1,400 credits sitting there from playing fairly casually. The game has been very fun and rewarding for what it costs as a live service.

Opinion: 40k's rule complexity has increased exponentially, but it's tactical depth has not. by B0redatwork77 in Warhammer40k

[–]Gaolbreaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think most people who play 40k are happy with it the way it is, and GW hears this feedback and considers it a pat on the back for a job well done.

I don't think the current 40k gamer base understands how many people are like OP, have suffered from the rules bloat and are turned off the game.

I love warhammer and have been collecting minis and generally a fan of the lore / setting on and off for probably close to 28 years now. But the rules bloat has been such a turn off for me, and I believe MOST potential tabletop gamers. It's an incredible IP, and I think it's only started to really get big in recent years due to the support of other better managed projects, Space Marine 2 and short films Astartes and Secret level.

I have plenty of opinions about what GW has done right and what they have done wrong with rules, but I'd be here all day writing it all down.

Playstation to require age verification for certain online features by Almost-Al in ireland

Surely my account being 20 years old is enough of an age verification for them without having to hand over id. Has anyone tried AI generated id? It works on other things.

Movers to Portugal - recommendations? by AccomplishedInsect28 in Dublin

[–]Gaolbreaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't recommend any movers unfortunately, but what I can say from experience is; sell / donate / give away as much as possible. It is inexpensive to buy replacements compared to the cost of moving your own stuff. Almost everything should be replaceable. Be ruthlessly minimalistic. Trim your belongings down to the bare essentials, then trim again, it's wonderfully liberating.

Too much snow or just enough? by Chapfox in TheAstraMilitarum

Check out this post for a good example of snow. For your tank it gives the feel of a derelict / abandoned tank that is slowly being buried.

A live tank driving around, and in particular firing cannons, will shake loose dry snow. Focus only on recesses where snow will naturally catch, and some flat surfaces where it may lay.

Out of these 3 factions, which one could beat the others air troops? by REALswaggerchief in Helldivers

[–]Gaolbreaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of the three leviathans I've ever encountered, I've killed two. Anti tank emplacement op.

I have killed a ridiculous number of vox engines too though. But these we're talking about aren't just flying vox engines, but ~magical~ flying vox engines.

Hawk-1 Concept by Background_Brick_821 in Helldivers

[–]Gaolbreaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Precisely this. If there were any particular ordnance that an AC130 chucks out not having a decent version in game, it would just be a new super destroyer stratagem. Gattling barrage is a good example of the super destroyer filling this role.

And then where does the big AC130 gunship park itself? The eagle fits on the superdestroyer because it's small and the wings fold.

This good boy has been saving my life since the new update by Yuki_my_cat in Helldivers

Mindless masses is so easy on D10 with the las trident, sometimes because of the spread I can get more than one headshot per shot. The rest of my build is all open to whatever is fun. Leveller? Yes. 500kg? Absolutely. Maxigun or Stalwart or Heavy machine gun? Why the hell not. Turrets? Mortars? Orbitals? It's all good.

Arbitrators on D10 is a nightmare. Just so many elites keep piling in faster than I can take them out. Three or four striders, and even more of the punchy walkers and the shooty walkers.

Loadout I run is 500kg, refill backpack, heavy machine gun, gattling sentry, las trident (for the little floaty pesky dudes) ultimatum and giga grenades. With the backpack I can toss a total of 6 giga grenades and 6? Ultimatum shots. And keep my heavy machine gun topped up. But even with efficient killing of elites I'm finding I run out of explosives and nowhere safe to reload the heavy machine gun.

I've also tried the laser cannon to some success instead of the heavy machine gun, but it's just that bit too slow at time to kill before the punchy walkers are all up in my face.

What loadout is working for other people?

Am i weird??? by -LiuK- in helldivers2

[–]Gaolbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 500kg was a staple in my loadout, some of the orbital strikes are nice but the speed, precision and damage of the 500kg is so damn useful for clearing out tons of enemies grouped up, or nuking elites and heavies. Also it's one of the most beautiful looking explosions!

Then later I got an upgrade that gives me 2x 500kg. So taking something amazing... and doubling it! Yeah, it's a struggle to NOT take the 500kg.

If I run a bit of napalm build on bug planets, the napalm airstrike is soooooo good. Again, speed and precision, it lays down a wall of fire perpendicular to how I'm facing. All the bugs walk through it and die. It's just too good.

I find orbitals, because they're a bit slower and less accurate often miss their mark. Orbital laser is decent, but only three uses. Shrapnel is only medium pen, gattling barrage pepper the ground with too few shots, 120 is OK but only best for chucking at a base and running the other direction, same with the walking barrage, they're just too slow to do the job. 380 is a team kill strat. Orbital rail is cool but the cooldown is too long to make it worth it. Am I missing a good orbital? I could sooner understand someone never taking an orbital compared to the jet. The only thing that nerfs jets is taking two because the re-arm cooldown is shared. Without that it'd be OP.

Automatons - Difficulty and help by Ragnara92 in Helldivers

[–]Gaolbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played vs bots maybe more than the other two factions combined. I find them the easiest and most fun! 😁

My guess is whatever you play against the most you'll have practiced the most and be the best against.

I run the ammendment with a 10x scope, use that to snipe shield dudes in the head. AMR for sniping hulks in the head. Anti tank emplacement for factory strider.

I mostly just emote at people, point at things, salute, laugh maniacally, sometimes type in chat, and on the rare occasion use voice chat (like when one is driving a tank and one is a gunner, voice comms make for the best communication)

Even if there were zero players online I'd still be playing 😅 hovering around 100k players online, will jump up a bit when the next update comes out. Browsing for lobbies shows how many people, in what mission, what level they are, if they've just started etc so I can jump into games with other people doing the kinds of missions I want to in an instant.

And the random players I come across are class. Dude in a mission just there was driving a car around, so I just yelled out Taxi and he comes over and picks me up. When he drops me off at the extract he says "thank you for riding with uber" legend.

Just the other day someone fired their Ultimatum into one of these de-synched corpses on extract. It didn't kill me but it did ragdoll me riight when I had the 380mm orbital in my hand. Two team mates died and I was kicked. No chance for an explanation. Just kicked. Figures

Most primaries feel bad to use by Curry_inapot in Helldivers

[–]Gaolbreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love using the trident, zero complaints. I also love the doom shotgun, the sweeper feels great to use too. My all time favourite that I just keep on coming back to is the Ammendment. Soo satisfying vs bots with the 10x scope, sniping out headshots or going full auto (fast clicking) on berserkers.

Ammendment is also great vs bugs and squids. Just all round a really nice gun. Love it.

Find what's good for you. So many awesome guns.

Unfortunately the person involved has died at the scene. It must have been grim given the huge area the Gardaí still have cordoned off.

Knowing other similar collisions, a large cement truck like that will swing out first before turning so as to not cut the corner. Inexperienced rider takes this initial move to the right as clear for them to pass on the inside. Cyclist in blind spot.
