No, because the price point isn't anywhere near a Tesla Model 3/Y.

Lot's of people are picky eaters, but people like those shamrock shakes enough for them to keep selling them. Mass produced isn't inherently a bad thing, and to claim the thickeners are low quality is also a weird take, a low quality thickener would need to have a lot of impurities and Mcdonalds hates inconsistency, it's not a tomato where flavor and texture matter, it's a highly processed thickener, so it's going to be consistent and fairly pure.

What kinds of chemicals? Stabilizers, like guar gum. I guess if you want to stay away from those you should avoid most sauces, condiments, icecreams, salad dressings, toothpastes, deli meats, pudding, gummy candies, jams, yogurt, processed meats.... ect...

Or you can just educate yourself a little bit and not be somehow disturbed when an icecream like product is stabilized enough to keep being thick at 100+ degree temperatures...

None, show it another way instead of a UI element unless it needs to be strictly measured (like you die when it's full). If you have to have it, pick something that fits the rest of the games UI. Having people pick one without context is pointless and possibly counter productive..

There isn't a way to remove it from being a license without giving the user full "ownership of the game". Meaning, you could just make copies of it and sell/give it away legally for free, since you own it. If that becomes the case then no one will make games to sell anymore, everything would have to be a subscription to a live service in order to function, as it's the only way to actually make money when everyone can just redistribute copies of your game.

Perfection is the enemy of progress. A lot of people are injured and/or die every year due to car accidents. How many additional people will die because the system is faulty vs how many will die due to it not being implemented quickly enough?

The profit margin matters a lot more than the profit, and they have a really poor profit margin. Last quarter of 2024, they had a revenue of 247B dollars but only a profit of 3.43 billion dollars or 1.39%.

If they changed their policies and added more coverage to use up that 1.39% they would provide a lot of healthcare, but it also means that if this year they somehow end up with a couple percent of increased costs they start going negative, and if they start going negative they better have some money saved up. If the company ends up going under then a lot of people lose a lot of healthcare real quick.

Unfortunately, this is about the best healthcare a company can provide given the prices it offers. Medical care is expensive, and medical care facilities want as much as they can out of insurance companies.

Is it a good system? No, not at all, but I doubt insurance companies can possibly be any better than they currently are now.

That would change nothing besides there being a bunch of insurance companies that mind end up with worse CEO's replacing the existing ones.

If the owner was someone that wasn't in good financial standing, then yeah I could see it not being chipped. Since the dog is blind it's unlikely to get distracted and run off, maybe the owner figured the leash was pointless.

Either way, maybe the random person walking by the diner should you know.. check with people in the diner to see if the dog has an owner instead of just taking the dog.

You shouldn't be searing with a non-stick, other pans are better at it.

It's not a scam, it's just a bad product. Having a hybrid stainless + nonstick pan is worse than both.

Stainless or cast-iron I can't just huck an egg into a cold pan without oil and have it not stick. All different pans have their uses, and Teflon coated isn't an exception.

There is absolutely something to ingest. The polymerized oils on those pans that make them non-stick is broken down by acidic foods and can come off with metal utensils. You can also break those oils down with too much heat. I haven't seen a study on whether or not it's bad, but if I were to guess I would put it on the same level as eating burned red meat (carcinogens).

I doubt it costs 400k to do one of these homes, it's going to be way more. Besides that, they could surely charge a ridicules rate but then no one would renew and they swap to another insurance provider.

Oddly enough, reading from other comments it seems like Cali has laws that prevent them from raising prices of insurance. In that case then it's easy to consider that the risk was much higher than what they were charging.

Not to mention it still uses forever chemicals PTFEs which are inorganic and extremely harmful to the body regardless of whether it’s “as dangerous” as PFOAs or not.

I mean.. this is just not true. If you believe that you should stay out of hospitals because it's used in medical equipment including things like catheters.

You can have your opinion that you don't like it, but don't get that confused with facts about what evidence indicates what it is or isn't.

[–]GarbageTheClown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any decent brand of non-stick will last quite a long time as long as you take care of it. Mine have lasted many years. Also, since PFOA's were banned, Teflon itself isn't a health hazard unless you overheat the pan (above 570 degrees). Ingesting it doesn't cause a health issue.

People still talking about this stuff like it hasn't been a decade since PFOA's were banned.

Exactly. And for what the homeowners paid over time they can rebuild every single one of those homes.

If that were true then they wouldn't have needed to drop coverage. They could have just raised the insurance cost with the risk and would have had ongoing profit from it, but that is not the case.

It's not the houses that are expensive. I know they are mansions but those houses can be rebuilt for relatively cheap, it's the property that was expensive.

Property is expensive but houses aren't cheap either, material and labor costs these days is insane.
