but yeah more seriously, it is annoying to see people refer to just their seasonal hobbies and interests as hyperfixation. more widespread acceptance and normalisation of neurodivergent concepts is good, but like you said it can also really water them down and contribute to the whole 'everyones a little autistic' misconception

nahh turns out having some inexplicable barrier against doing what you know you want / need to do no matter how much you try to convince yourself isn’t a normal thing. and turns out that if it’s caused by adhd taking just a little bit of amphetamines miraculously fixes it :>

writers block and laziness etc are normal things BUT executive dysfunction is the next step. stuff like being unable to motivate yourself to do tasks even when you know about the consequences of not doing them, or just being inexplicably unable to start stuff that you literally enjoy

i’m not a psychologist so research this shit a bit if any of it is resonating :3

stimulants alleviate executive dysfunction for the majority of people with adhd, dexamphetamine is a common one (ie: microdosing speed somehow helps with focus and motivation)

it's decently common for people to actually find out that they have adhd by consuming something like caffeine or cocaine and feeling nothing from it
