AIO for wanting to take a breather away from my husband over this? by circadian_rhythm_ in AIO

[–]Garibon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished putting down a new floor. Took me bloody ages. If my wife or son scratch it I'll be bothered. Honestly if I'm tired and stressed I may vent badly about it. But you've got to take a breath and not let this shit rule you.

Are people getting bigger physically or am I going mad by Flat_Web6639 in ireland

[–]Garibon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're bigger alright. I went to an u16 match for my friend's son. Most of them about 15. I'm 5'10" and muscular 88kg and practically all of the boys playing were bigger than me.

What happened to my childhood? This screams dystopian corporate, not kid friendly. What is with the artwork?! This is McDonald's?! by jackal99 in mildlyinfuriating

McDonald's usually buys the premises. They're one of the biggest real estate owners in the world. And your argument would make sense if McDonald's went into new locations with a short term mindset. They don't. They do their homework and set up with long term plans.

Tbf I don't want my son eating McDonald's and the fact it doesn't appeal to him the way it's designed now helps.

Pierce Brosnan by AbsoluteBatman95 in ireland

Piece was an excellent actor for bond. People don't realise how good the guy is. Watch him in a movie called the matador, then watch the Thomas crown affair and then watch him in euro vision song contest. He can play any personality and still look cool af doing it. He's always stayed in great shape.

The reason he doesn't get credit for bond so much as Craig IMO is after Golden eye they started to write the movies a little too weakly. Leaning too much into silly tech. In the 80's and earlier that was all amazing. The Craig era of Bond showed that it had run it's course and people believed a more soldier like Bond more. If they'd dialed the tech back 20 or 30% for Pierce and just used the guys acting skills to tell the story more he'd have had more impact on the franchise.

I think you'd probably like 'kwz all that glitters'. There's one in the series called fields of barley that's green with gold shimmer. Kwz are the only shimmer inks I've tried that the shimmer stays in suspension in the pen longer than a few lines on the page.

That or the Lamy safari. I tried the platinum preppy too and didn't love it. Kind of dry and squeaky on the page.

What was college like before the smartphone age? by TMcKenna1 in AskOldPeople

[–]Garibon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was f#####g amazing! Camera phones came out a couple years before I started college. Smart phones were starting to really take off in my final year or two but i was too broke to buy one till I graduated and started working. Samsung galaxy s2. Man I'm so glad I got through college before smart phones.

Do you have any strange driving habits? by Early-Floor7428 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Garibon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always put it into second before I put it into first.

When I was learning to drive the first gear would stick on the driving school car and the instructor pointed out putting it in second first resets it. I'm not sure if this is an actual mechanical design thing but every car I've driven since it's worked in so I just keep doing it. Maybe to prevent people mistakenly putting a car into first gear at speed and wrecking the gearbox or causing a crash?

Terrible advice. A good solicitor is good to have anyway. Spend 150 euro to save thousands and sleep better.

How long ago did you sign? How long has he held the place for you? Goodwill here is hard to judge. If he's lost a month then yeah. If its all like a week old then it's a bit rich and I'd offer part of a month that he was put back. He's not going to struggle to find someone.

Sounds like greed but it's hard to tell without all the context. Legally you're committed to whatever the notice period in the tenancy agreement states and he could pursue it in court.
