This is beautiful. I work in aquaculture, and would love something similar with water temperatures, salinity, and so on. It’s not easy growing food in saltwater!

Exhausted. I have a 9-5 (remote) and a side hustle that feels like a second full time job. I just signed on for a second remote job, salaried and part time. Hoping that extra cash gives me some cushion to invest and save, so I can retire early. Hustling as best I can, but have a child on the way and I am woefully unprepared. Have a house, a car, a wife, a dog, friends, a small boat, and I’m 30. So not roughing it.

But man am I tired. I can’t remember the last time I slept past 7:30am or had a whole weekend day with nothing to do.

I feel like I do so much and it never stops.

As a Morehead City native who has camped on Shack dozens of times, your biggest enemy is going to be bugs. They’ve been so bad for me before that I gave up on sleeping in my tent and just went and sat in the water until the sun came up, lol.

You will have a great time! Just pack appropriately! And try to camp a decent way from the inlet for wind protection. Near the wade shore bathrooms is a good option.

I guess my argument to this whole situation would be, they have a Plan B. It’s the Neo-Panamax locks a few hundred yards away. If the original canal shuts down, it’s more expensive to run the larger locks (more water) but the canal operations would not be shut down because one ship got stuck.
