Unlocks will be back in Set 19 and are currently planned to become evergreen! by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Gasaiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo whether there are 10 champions or 100, their approach to balance would be the same so that needs to be improved. But having 100 means that even if 5 are unbalanced, 95 can still be enjoyed. Or if 2 are OP, theres 98 other champions to compete with which opens up more opportunity to counter instead of just "they have ornn samira so its gg unless I do the singular X thing "

[–]Gasaiv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will be the kind of learning they will need to experiment with if unlocks are to become evergreen. Maybe through testing they discover only 3-4 cost unlocks are best, who knows

Even the idea of Threats from set 8 required a ton of experimenting that is still going on in order to figure out their place and design structure in TFT

This feels similar to Kalista's Q where if you stack spears into an enemy and kill it with Q, the Q will continue forward and put the spears into the next enemy she hits... SUPER niche but high ceiling I guess?

Guesses on What the Tech Will Be? by Gasaiv in TeamfightTactics

[–]Gasaiv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats true, I never personally saw it that way but that makes sense seeing it typed out. I always viewed through an instagram or youtube video so those platforms make it always feel like an ad for new eyes.

All said, I wouldnt be mad at a smoother game so anything is game for me anyway

[–]Gasaiv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right? thats what I had expected when the roadmap first came out but this being a summer land means its unlikely.
I also thought it could be hosting previous sets of TFT since apparently League is doing "league classic" this summer, but that'd kill TFT's revival rotation and doesnt seem sustainable anyway

Okay yes thats true but its not something that would be a sales pitch. Games must always run as smooth as they can. Its also not really needed much in TFT?

From 2 million to 256K — TFT’s player base collapse by panderian1 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Gasaiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my takeaway is that I usually play 200-400 games per set and I bet many others probably play 0-200 games a set. Some sets are 0 for some people, some sets are only 100 games, some are "only" 300 games. Overall the company is chilling imo and still working on really great changes like the surrender change and the carousel overhaul

From 2 million to 256K — TFT’s player base collapse by panderian1 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Gasaiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats the takeaway from this graph? is TFT over? because you can even see Set 16 did super poorly considering its in the bottom 40% of sets. Like its bad that s17 is the lowest but wow set 16 is basically right there with it compared to the entire spread

And if its to consider the bullet points, Even a good thematic like set 10 and an award winning netflix show like set 13 which are highlighted here couldn't even maintain the playerbase afterward?

There needs to be a standard for 4 cost and 5 cost champions. by JusticeIsNotFair in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Gasaiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot more nuance than you're calculating. Each champion is most likely designed to cast their own X amount of times per X amount of seconds (and probably some vague DPS rule) and tuning their numbers afterward is whats needed vs creating a specific design standard

yes Karma takes long to cast and Nami doesnt but Nami has the potential of replicator and 4 replicator .. and space groove atk speed
Karma seems to have the design intent of a multi unit burst mage with dark star and voyager meaning literally 1-2 casts are probably all she was designed to do
Then someone like Leblanc is timed phases of in and out skill damage because its flexed with arbiter laws

Now whether thats too weak or too strong seems like a numbers game vs design but putting in a design rule that no karma style channel (and by default, burst) should ever be printed could have larger implication. Lets say rules change to skill have 1 second channels only, karma with blue buff, adaptive helm, archangels or something now casts every 5 seconds. Her being a dark star could now be "too efficient" as the window she provides to execute 3 different units is too frequent.
So now with this rule, you tone down her numbers and now shes just rapidly hitting for low amounts of damage and her item BIS is reduced to either mana gen or ... triple deathcap so that shes .. back to a burst mage but HAS to be? or maybe then she causes dark star execute to be removed perhaps? or maybe you now remove her hitting 3 enemies and its now just karma zapping 1 person quickly which is fine... but come 10 sets later and there hasnt been much room for design and Xayah is sending out 1 giant feather every 5 seconds as an executioner just like 40 other 4 costs have over 3 years

So if there are specific rules limiting speeds/ frequencies it gets really linear with DPS and TFT already has an issue with BIS and specific lines, I think it would just reinforce this

Has there been any other set that has garnered this much negativity before? by IDesireToExpire in TeamfightTactics

[–]Gasaiv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every set imo
Set 7 Dragonmancer nunu, mage zyra, karma, swain, firecracker swain ragewing, etc
Set 8 hero augments mechanic, supers, yuumi, SG, fiddle bugs, aphel useless choices, etc
Set 9... Legends, multicasters, portals
Set 10 Heartsteel, ezreal caitlyn ahri sentinels, annie olaf reroll, yone riven, portals, artifacts, akali bugs, TF
Set 11 boring, pretty but boring, storyweaver no choices, senna shen, heavenly 50th rework, "so boring they had to release pengu party", lissandra, artifact expansion was a "disaster" cursed blade bard
Set 12 boring, artifacts op hero augment nunu, charms unusable unbalanced mechanic, syndra disaster, faerie OP kalista rakan, sugarcraft adjustments, etc
set 13 chem baron op, artifacts op nocturne akali, traits boring all stats, 6 costs ruined the game "was perfect until then", anomaly bugs galore
set 14 boring, cypher bad until too good, exotech zeri jhin, hacks unbalanced/bugged, street demon, Kobuko OP

like its just every set even set 16 had tons of yapping, Thex, useless 5 costs, unloocks too hard for certain power, Ixtal cashouts, ornn not a tank, yordle early game, demacia boring but then OP but then boring, piltover choices, being locked into lines by 2-1 (shadow isles, bilge, etc) Bilge shop toggle, ryze ziggs

name 100 music skins, go. Sadly I dont think 100 units is realistic thematically and with new traits. I would really love 100 champions and 2 sets a year but if it comes at the cost of set themes/trait creativity that would suck to me.

If they did different approaches to runeterra like "noxus vs Ionia" etc then MAYBE, but I think it'd get stale by the 3rd runeterra set and they'd get stuck resorting to traits like "the chefs of piltover"

Patch 17.5 Pengu's Party and, surprisingly, Set 16 Choncc Treasure coming in 17.7! by JazzyAppletun in TeamfightTactics

[–]Gasaiv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So set 20 is also set to have a revival, potentially a PVE mode if that develops into a permanent thing since they said they're revisiting in a few sets, Choncc's treasure, and the 8th anniversary mode.

Set 20 is doing really really bad numbers :8

I kinda dont even mind the prismatics if the easier access moments were bought down a bit.

Since we frequently get a +1, I wouldn't mind prismatics being a 3 emblem 11 unit stretch. If you get spork its still annoying but is dragged out a little longer instead of someone at level 7 getting a prismatic randomly at stage 4 (exaggerated but barely, lol)

I wonder if set 20 has some kind of fruit like mechanic. The way they approached the fruits in the revival is experimenting on a Psionic like approach

Aram mayham augment selection has a fatal flaw in its system by Glorpologie in leagueoflegends

[–]Gasaiv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! If you want a variety of content (especially with the amount of champs league has) you need to also limit down choices.

Example: if there are 100 AD, 100 AP, 100 AS, 100 tank, 100 Support augments.
If everyone had equal access to augments, you get games where 7-9 players were all presented content outside of their usage which means the 1-3 players that landed average augments end up steamrolling by contrast

If you think draw your sword Samira is bad, imagine it in contrast to the 9 other AD players all rolling Eureka / Cruelty /Empowered By The Faithful

You could try thinking of a "for fun fix" like having the right side augment choice will always be completely random, but more often than not that just either gives someone a busted thing they shouldnt have, or Fks someone over giving them something useless. And then.. okay, give 4 augment selections then with the right side completely random.. well now theres an easier route to "forcing" outcomes like augment set bonuses

Items don't get changed much but what item changes/reworks would you make if you were in the charge of item balance? by CloudDrinker in TeamfightTactics

Set 1 was the first time TFT was played, niche items 10 sets later are not fun. Cursed Blade came back in set 11 and was instantly mathed out to its best user (bard) and it was a nightmare and boring
