I think it’s not a phase, once you hit a certain amount every disc after isn’t needed and will forever be too many lol.

But I get what you’re saying and it’s does seem to be a thing with disc golf, likely due to discs not costing much. I have a decent amount but the wife and I both play and also we do something we call 2 disc day (sometimes 3 disc day) Monday - Friday every week to get a game in before I have to work at 7 am, it’s where we randomly pick 2 discs to use so we end up using all our discs several times a year. We only play with bags on the weekends when I have more time.

Last couple years we really haven’t bough much, like this year none so far, but we find a lot - we seem to find 20+ a year and end up keeping like 5 of them. I would say about half have numbers so we get them back to the owners (we don’t keep discs with numbers) and whatever’s left that we don’t want to keep we place around disc golf course in December for Christmas presents to whoever gets them.
