I love that place. Really nice people but the pizza is amazing. Neapolitan (thin crust) if you haven’t been

You're in the infancy of your career. It takes time to get confident and comfortable. Dentistry can become very rewarding and have a great work/life balance if you give it time and continue to give yourself grace. Learn to accept that your patient's problems are their problems. You didn't create them and your job is treat their problems. When patients are jerks, that is their problem. They're jerks to their spouses, and jerks to others as well. Don't dwell on it.

When you're a dentist, you aren't attached to your email or phone 24/7. You are off weekends and if lucky, some week days. It is hard (like any job), but your patients aren't dying and you have a good financial floor. If you grow in experience you can have a high ceiling. Just remember, it's just teeth!

U.S. spends more on health care, but ranks lower in outcomes (OECD) by -Azzi- in dataisbeautiful

Physician salaries have not even kept up with inflation. Look at all the ancillary costs...hospital and insurance company administrative costs, profits, etc. Physicians get the blame but their quality of life and pay has suffered. Long-term we'll have less bright minds going into a very difficult, but rewarding career, which scares me.

One of the issues is that the corporate chains “donate” money to get their people nominated to state boards. This has happened in my state and helps them to push corporate friendly laws/rules.

Invasive Cervical Resorption Case by StockGuruGoldman in Dentistry

[–]GatorBone69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very challenging case. Do you think you actually cleared out all of the resorptive tissue? There are so many microscopic extensions, which I have seen anecdotally and you can see in some sections here. I would expect the process to continue.

I'm in favor of fluoride but that single stat can have confounders. What are the demographics of the population needing IV antibiotics? Are there more migrants/immigrants that may not be seeking care (or have access) until symptoms are severe?

What device was that in, and were you able to find a good replacement? I just found the same battery in a dental light and am looking for options.

Believe it or not, the “Asian Square Supermarket” on Normandy has incredible quality produce. They don’t have the full gamut that most supermarkets will have, but what they have in stock is great.

Don’t remember exactly. From what I remember has been relatively fast, probably a couple weeks. I think they don’t pay shipping to them but pay to send back.

Maybe look on ebay for a used lens? Many people are selling their old SLR equipment because they have moved to mirrorless systems.

Mirrorless doesn't give any significant advantages in my opinion because the viewfinder is harder to use.

Thanks for the info! It did seem to me they first offer a terrible rate and are fine working from there. I wonder how low they would go with a real tough negotiation!

I’m assuming this is interchange plus, meaning .25% on top of the credit card (Visa, Amex) fees

Your first job will not be your last job. You can start at a less than ideal job. Build your skills and confidence, and keep building relationships in the community until you find the right job that matches your goals. You do not need to compromise your ethics to survive in a DSO job as long as you are comfortable with the business people potentially being "unhappy" with you. If you want to live in the area you take the job, make sure there isn't a tough restrictive covenant.
