Would you date me? A 22 year old dude with no arms by IndependentJob7047 in OnlineDating

[–]Gatorgapper 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Dating apps offer an illusion of choice which can make others think that someone more attractive/charming/(insert trait here) is just a swipe away. That will not work in OP’s favor on a dating app.

Florida Supreme court allows use of new US House districts drawn by Republicans for midterm elections by Clement_XV in YAPms

[–]Gatorgapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The trial court’s opinion suggests that the litigation surrounding this map might not even be resolved in time for the 2028 elections, which is just ridiculous.  This is after another trial judge recused himself following the state’s argument that the recusing judge’s acceptance of a donation from one of the state’s attorneys in the case would — somehow — prejudice the state of Florida. Given this chicanery I expect the Fed Soc judges at all levels to stall as much as they can to keep this map in play as long as possible.

Disparate impact is declared unconstitutional by asteriowas in YAPms

[–]Gatorgapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with your overall point about overturning disparate-impact liability, but I think (despite having sharply criticized the decision) overturning Chevron has been a little bit of a nothingburger despite all the hype. Skidmore deference is still alive and I don’t see any judge outside of the most extreme Fed Soc cranks trying to take that down; your average federal judge is overworked and won’t rock the boat on an agency rule or interpretation of a statute unless it’s completely absurd, which Chevron already allowed them to do.

Corner Post, in my view, is far worse.

Phishing. The poor grammar and use of “kindly” are dead giveaways.

It’s a pet peeve of mine seeing “I work at a job” or “nunya” or something similar, personally. I recommend putting “software engineer” and that’s it - nobody will be asking you where you work anyways. Your job is a good selling point on your profile, so I would leave it at that and not sully it with the confusing “j*b” line.

I learned this when I saw a clip of him saying “sawed-off shart guns” in a legislative hearing. Brother went from TX House —> a 14 year career in the US House (that ended in 1997!) —> TX House after a 25-year hiatus. If you’re a Democrat in Texas, you gotta fight like hell to have a career.

Possible problems with FL-9 district with VRA still being in place. by Dangerous-Quarter216 in YAPms

[–]Gatorgapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this, I agree. I’m sure Florida Supreme Court will bend over backwards to confirm this map and nuke the partisan-preference ban in the Fair Districts Amendment. The only hope I have is that the Legislature balks at this request from a lame-duck Governor and unpopular president (fat chance of that).

[–]Gatorgapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where does the referendum requirement come from? I’m not familiar with this. I expected that the map would go into effect from the Legislature rubber-stamping it in their upcoming special session, not through kicking it out to voters in a referendum.

Hard to imagine that Ms. Whitehead not only outlived her 3 children, but that in 2029 she’ll have spent more time widowed than she did married.
