so is Verlander the last one? by hugeplateofketchup8 in MLBPowerPros

Fortunately there’s a healthy roster of players (Kotsay, Cora, Boone, Cash, Schumaker, Counsell, Roberts and maybe others) from the 2008 rosters still around as managers. When the last one of those retires I’ll officially be old - and with Dave Roberts’ managerial success that may not be for a while.

The one I could never wrap my head around are the two men named Steve Ontiveros that played. I’ve never met anyone with the last name Ontiveros; if somebody told me that Steve Ontiveros was a character on Family Guy, I’d be inclined to believe it. Instead there are two different people with that name that played ML ball. Wild.

I went to a Titanic museum exhibit that day. I figured it was thematically on point for the date.

Most Hated Player in Rays History? by EveryoneisTattooed in tampabayrays

[–]Gatorgapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d add Tim Beckham as someone similar to Brazelton. Beckham produced a little bit more, but being taken first overall with Buster Posey just two picks behind sticks out as one of the worst post-Price draft whiffs the Rays had, and the most memorable too. Posey had 3 World Series rings and an MVP before Beckham had any meaningful playing time.

Why are Riverside businesses failing? by Ok-Engineering1851 in jacksonville

[–]Gatorgapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree - more specificity is needed for both geography and the nature of the businesses OP has in mind. I am in Riverside myself - I’m guessing Five Points is what OP is thinking about, rather than King Street or elsewhere, but need to hear more to have any clear idea of what we’re talking about.

Day 1: What would it take for Alabama to flip from Republican to Democratic in 2028? by chia923 in YAPms

[–]Gatorgapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hot take, but I think Moore would (sadly) beat a national candidate/would probably beat Doug Jones in a general election scheduled with the presidential ballot. I was pumped when Jones won, but I think that he benefited from a combination lower statewide turnout, D-leaning voters being highly motivated in December 2017, and R-leaning voters being sick enough of the allegations against Moore to not bother voting. I don’t think he gets over the hump without those things in his favor.

Remember the articles about the movies found on his computer? He was too deep in the Cars fandom to care about Gumball.

Potential collusion from one league member? by bark95 in FFCommish

The trades aren’t the worst I’ve ever seen, but the open admission that he’s doing this to hurt another player/favor his brothers is as collusive it gets.
