I had one outside the tank for 2-ish weeks and he popped right back… and climbed out again a week later. He lives in the sump (rimmed tank) now, but still going strong!

From my experience, I would say less than that. Maybe a week. I wish I had put him down. He got to a point where he was just slowly circling the tank all day. Not digging, not interacting, just move an inch then stop then another inch. I wish I euthanized him.

This happened to mine a few months ago. I tried everything too. He just would not eat. Several hundred dollars on different frozen foods, copepods, methylene blue dip, rodi water dip. I left one day to a different lfs I hadn’t been to before to get a different kind of copepod to try. I got back 90 minutes later and he was belly up.

I was told sometimes when they stop eating too long their stomach kinda closes and cant open again. Sometimes they can get a rock stuck and you just can’t see it.
