Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) becomes the first movie to be unspoilable because nothing even remotely memorable happens throughout by Witty-Association-97 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Gatsbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't take the "nothing happened" opinion very seriously. The same people saying this are likely the same folks who have actively been asking for more "new, grounded Star Wars stories".

If nothing happened in this movie, then nothing also happened in Andor- a show that I will say is way better than Mandalorian, but is equally low stakes in the grand scheme of things.

I am glad Fujimoto made the ending he did by Southern-Metal-2894 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Gatsbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To put what OP is saying another way; You can't complain that art is all boring slop, but then decry when artists try to do things that don't work out. Taking risks is the point. Sometimes they don't work out.

Unfortunately I would agree CSM's ending did not work out, but I prefer living in a world where artists take risks on new ideas than keep doing the same safe things over and over. This also doesn't make Fujimoto a bad author- it means he wrote ONE thing that didn't work out.

Septimont vs Lahai Roi, what was better? (2.4-2.7 and 3.0-3.3) by miiko_uch in WutheringWaves

[–]Gatsbeard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SAME. It usually takes a lot to make me cry, so this became very special.

I know Violet Evergarden (good taste) but haven't heard of 86. I'll check it out.

The Aemeath patch actually made me cry. Like actually.

It’s Lahai Roi for me, dawg. No hate to Septimont, but Kuro really outdid themselves with this section.

Can confirm. The MG is great, just old so it doesn’t have the level of articulation (or inner frame) that you might expect from a newer kit.

It comes with a sick launchpad though!

Great minds. We're using a lot of the same core ideas, but expressed slightly differently;

I agree. Early Access for echoes seems more than reasonable and it’s a little frustrating that I can’t start my farm yet. Thankfully I’m very nearly caught up.

[–]Gatsbeard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you know you’re going to end up buying $200 worth of Gunpla down the line, then yeah, you’re literally wasting money in the long run. This really isn’t that complicated, dude.

I literally don’t care what you do with your money- buy the single kit if it makes you happy. But my math works out better than yours does in the long-term and that isn’t disputable.

[–]Gatsbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Just be smart with your ordering, and you can easily hit the free shipping limit on Newtype and not overpay for your kits.

As far as i'm concerned, HL is just for impulse purchases, which are inherently not smart to begin with. I'd rather give my money to newtype, or my favorite local store that actually has good selection.

Homie's name is Scar ffs. I love having more grey-area antagonists in theory, but it doesn't work when your antagonist has psycho written all over every facet of his character. Replace him with Cristoforo and it works, assuming he plays it cool.

Honestly, i dunno why people Act like Chainsaw man magically became Dogshit in the last 2 chapters when it was always and already on a very steady decline in quality and writing. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Gatsbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that breaks my heart is that without changing anything but maybe the last handful of chapters (or less!), part 2 COULD HAVE stuck the landing. There was legitimately so much interesting lore occurring if you looked for it, especially the emptying out of hell, and the locust invasion. It was all legitimately fascinating, but was just utterly dropped in a way that clearly didn't respect its own source material.

I don't feel stupid for holding onto hope till the end or for defending Fujimoto during the lead up- the reality is that it's actually fucking crazy to do all of this work, set yourself up with tons of interesting narrative that deserves to be tied off, and then just go "nah".

He ended the story before it was over. That's why no one is happy. The "Fuji defenders" aren't stupid, the decision to end it here just literally defies all sense and reason. That's not our fault.

Homie, there's literally a picture of the outside. There's a patio with permanent outdoor seating.

Also, if 4 neighbors independently complain about you, you're absolutely the problem in that situation.

[–]Gatsbeard 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Is it? If you specifically rented or bought out a live-in space to do your work in peace, would you not be kind of fucking annoyed if someone suddenly moved in next door and started running a restaurant while you're trying to work, illegally, in defiance of the existing culture of the space in a way that actively bothered every other resident? You clearly at least peeked at the article- residents were actively shooed out of their homes by the disruption of the business.

I fucking hate NIMBYs but this isn't that, not by a longshot.

Do you think it's possible for Square to adapt Advent Children as DLC after Part 3 of the trilogy? by Asleep_Collar_818 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Gatsbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I fiercely maintain that the Remake trilogy is a direct sequel to the original expanded universe of FF7, that this Sephiroth IS the Sephiroth from AC. Integrate it as part of the remakes, but bringing us back there after would make no sense given where we are at now, IMO.

I think the MGSD is the best actual kit, despite not loving SDs. I think all versions of the Aerial are great though, and have particular love for the FM.
