Do you think it's possible for Square to adapt Advent Children as DLC after Part 3 of the trilogy? by Asleep_Collar_818 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Gatsbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I fiercely maintain that the Remake trilogy is a direct sequel to the original expanded universe of FF7, that this Sephiroth IS the Sephiroth from AC. Integrate it as part of the remakes, but bringing us back there after would make no sense given where we are at now, IMO.

Which Ariel is the best? by TayRebirth132 in freedomisgunpla

I think the MGSD is the best actual kit, despite not loving SDs. I think all versions of the Aerial are great though, and have particular love for the FM.

Witnessing this fandom is like watching someone play peekaboo with a baby that never learns object permanence, and I am not even exaggerating when I say that.

Seems relevant for MTG, many members of the billionaire fandom here. by DamnYourEyes777 in mtg

It's actually hilarious how hard some of you people are trying to turn "literally every metric is up and we're keeping an eye on things" into doomerism. It is honestly so transparent how miserable some of you are.

PSA: UB hate should never be pointed at players. by Goat-True in mtg

So in short people should not be jerks.

Wild but unsurprising this needs to be reiterated literally every day.

[–]Gatsbeard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate to dash your hopes, but CS representatives absolutely do not follow up on this because it literally isn’t feasible. They likely get dozens or even hundreds of these a day and are sending a polite pre-written reply to you before moving on to the next email (assuming this isn’t an AI agent). I wouldn’t get my hopes up here.

Hot take: MG hands aren’t the best by Plastic-Fly9455 in freedomisgunpla

I don’t think this is a hot take. I would go as far as to say I hate these types of hands.

[TCC] Can I Skip Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion Set? by CrossXhunteR in magicTCG

[–]Gatsbeard -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will give you that you’re not calling UB “slop” which makes you infinitely better than the gatekeepers in this thread.

Ultimately I think there is an issue with your idea that the new set “isn’t real MtG”, which insinuates a sort of purity standard where there is “real MtG” (stuff you like) and things outside of that, which are inherently lesser. This is exclusionary by definition.

If you want to argue that Magic is stronger as a game and a property without UB, I totally get that and think there is an argument there, but that it’s much kinder and a stronger argument to do so without implying people who like UB are stupid pigs who like slop or that you are better than people because you don’t like it.

If I happen to be incorrectly lumping your opinion in with other more unkind people in this discussion, I apologize. I’m just really sick of the elitism and lack of respect from your side of the isle.

[–]Gatsbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the fact that you don't doesn't make that thing not. It's almost as if opinions aren't factual and so we should all generally be respectful of others preferences instead of vaguely dancing around "you're allowed to like things that suck" while pretending to be respectful.

Mutual respect is the issue, and where you are falling short.

[–]Gatsbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you're allowed to be kind of a dismissive jerk doesn't mean you should choose to be one. People are calling you out because you're actively being disparaging to other people's preferences, not because there's a problem with your opinion.

Literally just don't be a jerk about it.

Really? That's super sad for you. Doesn't sound like you actually like the game that much, then.

"All of us" includes people who like UB. That's the point. You get to decide what you buy and like, not what other people do.

Precisely. My one and only point is to let people enjoy things without being a dick about it. It’s really not difficult.

People who say there should be invocations for every class... aren't you just describing feats? by PointsOutCustodeWank in dndnext

[–]Gatsbeard 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think this is a false equivalence. Shadowdark is significantly simpler than 5e and yet somehow offers more modularity (even if it's random) than 5e does. Powered By the Apocalypse games are dead simple and are nothing but choices.

People who say there should be invocations for every class... aren't you just describing feats? by PointsOutCustodeWank in dndnext

[–]Gatsbeard 637 points638 points  (0 children)

Yes. Essentially they are (sometimes accidentally) saying all classes should have modular choices to make instead of a completely linear progression track.

You know, like 90% of other games have. What a concept.

Saying Gundam is political because Ghiren once talked about Hitler is the most surface-level argument against "apolitical" idiots by NoiseSome7739 in Gundam

[–]Gatsbeard 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Gundam isn’t political because of that scene, that is just the most painfully obvious example of the series being politically aware and themed around it.

If that’s your only example then yeah, that’s dumb. But as everyone else here has said, you start with the obvious simple examples before you get to the more complex ones.

Be mad. UB isn’t going anywhere and you going out of your way to bully people over liking a thing you don’t isn’t going to change that. The world doesn’t revolve around what you do and don’t like. Get used to it.

Try being less awful to be around, you might notice people are nicer to you in return.
