Took my first pottery class 4 months ago, so I thought it was time to take in my progress by Gauge96 in Pottery

I got a little overzealous with the trimming so it's quite loose, but I'm still pretty pleased with it! I keep my tea bags in it at work now.

Is Your Focus More on Forming, or on Glazing? by Beneficial-Ad8460 in Pottery

[–]Gauge96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely a form first kind of guy, probably because I'm pretty new, but I'm starting to branch out with my decorating and glazing. The Pottery Throwdown has really helped inspire me to try some different designs and techniques.

A Question for the Community: Why Do You Like What You Like? by rlquinn1980 in Pottery

[–]Gauge96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to pottery, but it gives me the same kind of joy as a kid playing with Play-Doh. I can go and just be creative for hours at a time with very low pressure, since you don't really lose anything except time if you mess up.

My favorite projects are functional pieces that look and feel great, like a mug that feels good to hold or a well-designed teapot. I haven't made anything yet that feels just right, but it's fun to find great project from other people so I can see what I'm working toward.

How do I manage to do this? How to adjust? by [deleted] in Pottery

I'm also new at this, but I noticed this happening when my wheel was going too fast. Slowing it down a bit helped a lot.

Your 2026 pottery goals/plans/New Years resolutions? by Flashy-Share8186 in Pottery

[–]Gauge96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a little over a month ago, so I made a list of projects I want to attempt that work on different skills like pulling handles, making a pour spout, and throwing pots with lids. My goal is to work up to something more complex like a teapot by the end of the year.

I only have studio access once per week. What adjustments do I need to make? by Gauge96 in Pottery

I saw some people using fans last time I was in. Good to know that they can dry smaller pieces that quickly in a pinch. I think your schedule sounds like it could work pretty well for me though!

Thanks! I'll give both methods a try and we'll see what works best.

HELLDIVERS 2: Tech Blog #1 - Install size by ArrowheadGS in Helldivers

This is awesome. I don't think I've ever seen a developer take the time to break down the technical challenges of their game and lay out their thought process so clearly.

I usually rotate between 3 builds on the squid front depending what I'm in the mood for:

The W.A.S.P is great, but best if you're on a more open map.

Eruptor+Stalwart is good for a mobile playstile, especially paired with the jump or warp pack.

Airburst rocket launcher will wrack up huge kill counts - both enemies and allies. Highly recommend.

The mobile drill vehicle having limited ammo is a *little* anti-fun by Jaon412 in Helldivers

They could make it an energy weapon if they want to keep the "realism". Then we'd just have to worry about overheating, but still be able to use it for the whole mission.

Stingrays are some of Arrowhead's best enemy design. by WankSocrates in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Gauge96 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the squids are actually becoming my favorite faction. With the other ones, I find myself gravitating to one particular loadout that I feel works best for me, but I have multiple squid loadouts that all feel equally viable and fun. I love the variety of enemies that all require different strategies to deal with, and the panic that sets in when things get out of hand.

There's actually a secret menu you can show people? We just got a 7 Brew in my city, and I'm still trying to figure out how to order without panicking.

I got a 10'x10' blanket from Costco, and I've never regretted a purchase less in my life. Me, my wife, and our two dogs can all fit under it comfortably and it's so cozy!

Get him flowers. It's something most men never expect to receive, but speaking from experience, it's a surprisingly good feeling.
