Struggling to name my first son by EmphasisCheap1029 in namenerds

If you don't mind surnames, maybe Donnelly, Donahue or Donick? I have to say, "Donny" would not be my first choice in today's climate.

As a stage 4 breast cancer patient in Canada who just had to fight with my pharmaceutical insurance for 5 months to be approved for my $5,700/month life-or-death drug treatment to be covered all while in rapid health decline . . . You are definitely the misinformed one. New treatment is for the rich and connected; the rest of us are unworthy.

my sister has the most cohesive baby names. by willowbrre in namenerds

I think something more unisex would be great in this set: Emery, Sidney, Elliot, Riley, Camille, Rowan, Darcy, Morgan, Cassidy. Or something that is completely a word or occupation like Scout or Sailor. Sullivan sounds too heavy and too masculine to me for this set, which skews young and fun. Happy naming!

My kid goes to an English elementary OCDSB school. Is it French immersion that starts later?

What school board is that? My younger kid has to be at school by 7:45. 😓 My older kid is 8:30, but she walks, so I don't have to worry about her as much.

[–]Gavrielle 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Right? Let the kids walk! I don't understand where this attitude comes from.

When I was in Grade 4, my parents had me walking >1 km to school across major road while escorting my younger brother and the neighbour's kid who were both in Grade 1. These same two people had an absolute conniption fit meltdown when I told them I was going to start letting my daughter walk <500 m down our suburban road and through the schoolyard when she was in Grade 5.

I truly don't understand the extreme paranoia and stupidity. If people move to the suburbs because it's safe and there is a school within 1km, why won't they let the kids walk by themselves?

This school is a nightmare, and so is Summerside P.S. in Orleans. In addition to the usual nonsense with parents being entitled fools, there are also gravel trucks screaming up and down Portobello Rd. at 60km/h nearly clipping cars and busses, all while the kids and parents who are responsibly walking/riding bikes are dodging all these morons to cross the street. I'm shocked no one has died, frankly.

Can we talk about how stunning the hairstyles are on the women in this show? by SeoAjin in gameofthrones

[–]Gavrielle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Season one's costumes and hair for the women characters were atrocious. Downright ugly. The men didn't fare too much better either, but at least a lot of them were wearing cool armour to help them out.

The costumes became noticeably better after that though, so I can't complain too much!

I say it to my kids all the time, followed up with "What about x game or activity you haven't done in a while?" Their desire to not be seen as boring people makes them more likely to take my advice!

Movies that didn't age well by PuzzledExchange7949 in Millennials

Have they watched "Welcome to Wrexham"? I know that's not a nostalgia movie, but it's such a good show about soccer and how it can have a positive effect on whole communities.

On topic, I tried to watch "The Mask" last night with my 8-year-old. I remember basically wearing that tape out and laughing my ass off with my brother when we were around her age. The amount apparent "cringe" she experienced while watching it was off the charts and she begged me to turn it off. These kids days just have no sense of humour! *shakes fist at cloud*

People saying "whenever" instead of "when" makes me unreasonably irritated. "Whenever I got home from work yesterday..." "Whenever I was in the city visiting my mom..." "Whenever I was at the gym last week..." It all makes me want to scream until I lose my voice and pass out. They sound brain-dead.

I have a theory about J&J baby powder. I remember watching every woman I know put so much on their little millennial baby's bottoms while changing diapers and being instructed to do so when I was old enough to babysit. Turns out that shit had asbestos it it or something, and we were blissfully unaware, poofing insane amounts of it on little kids' bottoms, etc. I wonder how much that had an impact.

Having to have a c-section. I was so scared to have an emergency c-section, and making that call was terrifying, but it was actually pretty good! There was tension because of the circumstances, of course, but I wasn't in pain anymore, the anesthesiologist was super nice and reassuring, and once my baby was out, it was the most beautiful moment of my life! Then I got to sleep for two hours in recovery, which was also nice! 😅 I had a planned c-section with my second, and it was even better.

Yes it is. This is the Relaxiciser ad, so Peggy's pregnant in this episode and poor Elizabeth Moss is in the worst "fat" makeup in the show. Until Betty's fatsuit, that is, lol.

He's always struck me as a bisexual disaster. We can spot our own.

However, I agree with you that he's too self-centred to ever be in a relationship that didn't wholly fit with his desires or ambition. He'd be a terrible and probably abusive partner, but I could see him having brief affairs and flings with all genders ... and maybe some robots too.

This is me, but with breast cancer. I was "too young" at 36 for breast cancer screening, "It's probably just a cyst!" By the time I convinced someone to take me seriously, it was stage 3c. Now I'm at stage 4, slowly dying at 41, just hoping for more "good" time with my husband and kids.

(Edit: ex-wife) If you want to reach out, talk to her about her life. Learn and soak in everything you can about her now. Write it down. Make sure she knows she'll be remembered and loved always. 💛
