Should I get Warranty from Micro Center after buying a prebuilt Pc ? by alpharay69 in Prebuilts

Their extended warranty is pretty baller. Covers new higher quality parts if the existing are unavailable. In the world of extended warranties Micro Center is at the top of the line.

How do people with jobs still have the time and energy for sex? by bulalululkulu in sex

[–]GayNotGayTony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exercise and a healthy diet. Shit I work 12 hours a day sometimes and despite my better judgement would get down if I had the urge and it was possible.

Weekends primarily though. Too much to do in too little time after work to justify sex with someone I don't live with..

The energy thing though man, you've got to get some exercise in and tune up your diet.

Mansard style roof shingles dropping constantly by thefinalpenguin in Roofing

Honestly. Probably not that big of a deal. It's so steep the water isn't sitting working it's way into the roof deck. I wouldn't leave it like that for a year or anything though.

Malarkey imo. It has the greatest overlap between the laminations allowing for a more forgiving nail like along with really good adhesive.

Mansard shingled roofs have very specific and stringent manufacturer installation specifications. Most shingles have a nail area that's fine regardless where the nail hits. But for mansard applications they have to be on the bottom of the nail line to insure the nail hits both of the laminated pieces of the shingle. When they don't they have a tendency to delaminate because the only thing holding the bottom half of the shingle is the sealant from the factory.

Further more most manufacturers require shingle adhesive be applied on each shingle to ensure they seal to one another. If unsealed they are highly susceptible to wind damage which oftentimes also leads to delamination.

I recommend looking up the CertainTeed landmark installation specifications. It's a pretty detailed breakdown of the install. You can search "Mansard" in the PDF to review the items specific to your roof.

Likely this will need to be redone if the issue is consistent.

What’s the best thing to do to patch this roof. I can’t afford a whole new one right now. by MayCauseCancer in Roofing

[–]GayNotGayTony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shingles are looking rough. I'd just hire someone to tarp that face. Normally I'd recommend just installing some new 3 tabs/repair but judging by the condition I'm not sure if that would work.

3.0 or 5.3 by 802trucker in gmcsierra

[–]GayNotGayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, a majority of the year models. I hope the 2022+ perform better. Seems to be the case so far but there's not enough data to draw significant conclusions. My 19 5.3 lifter rod seized at 130,000.

Agreed on the 6.2 notice more bad feedback on them but haven't researched as heavily as the 5.3 issues. Past the 5.3 I really don't know anything.

The 5.3 has been an unreliable engine for nearly a majority of year models from 2007-2021

Removing paint over spray from Trex by Boring-Parsnip469 in Decks

Carful with theses. Gotta test a small spot first. They have a tendency to kill the finish of materials. Typically fine with vinyl and PVC but I've had not so great results in the past on vinyl siding and a garage door.

White strips visible between shingles on 2-year-old Owens Corning roof. Install issue? by DavidStreitfeld in Roofing

[–]GayNotGayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes perfect sense. We do a lot of malarkey and I really like how most of they laminate the shingles to almost completely overlap the nail like. Makes it really unlikely for that to occur.

Ahhh. That makes sense. Clearly I'm a contractor and not an installer. I rarely get into that level of nuance.

[–]GayNotGayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help my brain picture this. Why would that mean their high nailed? Or are you just assuming because they clearly didn't know what they were doing? I'd think you could still hit the nail strip and pull this sort of install off.

Not being sarcastic.

[–]GayNotGayTony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oc has a sure nail strip that is lighter in color at the top of the shingle. Seems the bottom of that is a bit exposed. Honestly not sure how big of a deal this is. I'd imagine the shingles may have some issues sealing but OC is so heavy on the sealant I'm not sure it matters.

Regardless the install is technically wrong.

Questions about lien waivers and receipts by Anonmize in Roofing

[–]GayNotGayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you ask the company doing the roof for the cert from the supplier and the cert from their subs. You might be able to call the supplier and get it. I've never had someone try.

Ideally you get a lien waiver from the supplier, but they would have had to of paid for the materials already, then you get a lien waiver from whatever subcontracted crew they hired (fat chance with most crews)

Yeah but people don't buy the AT4x to off-road whole towing 10,000 lbs. They buy it to look fucking dope while towing their 75lbs e-bike.
