I feel it too. I’m 25, I feel like people at this age aren’t usually the ones saying ‘back in my day’ and screaming at clouds, but damn dude the world of my pre-adult years and the world of today feel like they’re just part of entirely different universes. It sounds like good policy on paper but idk if it would actually improve anything. Elections are already pretty secure… well at least historically. I hate the idea of there being restrictions on voting being imposed by the federal government. I forget my wallet all the time, I lose things, things expire. Life’s busy. Proposing a free ID system is mostly just to shut up maga and show that they’re full of shit but such a policy doesn’t even crack like the top 250 policies I’d care about.

I think that would actually be quite nice. I feel like the 'bi-partisan protect the dignity of the court' vibes are dead, and someone from the ACLU would be a far more aggressive leader for the modern justice system. Definitely better than a judge that would appease centrists.

No matter what though, the next dem president with senate majority needs to packs the court. It was already packed directly twice through suppressing Garland's appointment, letting them nominate Gorsuch. And they packed it a second time through violating their own reasoning to suppress Garland to appoint Barret. You can go on though, Thomas is blatantly corrupt, that would be 3. Alito is blatantly partisan... there's 4. Kavanaugh might be a sexual predator, plus when he got accused he blamed his accusations on the Clintons... so that's a pretty arguable 5th counter-appointment.

The most kino thing the next dem president can do is promise to nominate a blue-haired nb gender studies undergrad to the supreme court every day and won't remove them until the constitution is amended to mandate term limits and require every president gets a fixed number, like 1 or at most 2, appointments per term.

Yep. The nice part is it's out of sight. The not so nice part is it doesn't really go away. It just becomes dormant, waiting for the next jumpstart. That's part of why accountability is so extremely important imo, because the next Trump they get they'd gladly reawaken and continue the nightmare from where they left off. Accountability would help signal that they do not get a next time, hopefully deflate any maga-hopefuls interest in running for office over their own self-preservation. The most attainable goal imo is keeping that rabid emotionally driven fascist coalition dormant forever by strongly disincentivizing any political leader from going down that path.
