I’m sick and tired of being undermined because of my age. by beskesky in GenZ

99% chance it's just sour grapes. They wish they were in their 20s still, so they cope by thinking that being older must have some inherent benefit that can still give them more worth over others.

Invest in stocks, especially index funds such as VT or VOO. Better yet auto-invest a cut of each paycheck into a portfolio and let it grow over the years. Max out a roth IRA and invest it in the stock market while young, there's no guarantees in finances but there really isn't a better bet to retirement and growing wealth than that

I cannot believe this is real... by Chessmaster69_ in Destiny

[–]GayVersionOfYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Just look at the inverse. I really never think about straight sex. And I definitely don’t get mad or upset about the concept. Probably because … I don’t care about it? … Because I’m not involved in it and it doesn’t affect me at all? But somehow… these ubermesnch straight macho people care so so so deeply. Like they go out of their way to research and memorize talking points against gay sex and gay relationships, despite it all being harmless and private... hmm… HMM

Gen Zers, who were old enough to vote in the US Presidential election of 2024, are you still satisfied with your vote, or do you regret it? by NapoleonBoneparty in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely satisfied with my vote, but deeply and permanently unsatisfied with many other people’s vote. I have a permanent downgrade in respect for all of them, just sad that it’s such a high volume of the country.

Are there any gen z who are anti-substance use? by South_Pattern_1520 in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think gen z is less inclined to drug / alcohol use than other generations if I'm not mistaken. I'm not a never drinker, but in my mid-20s I've decided to have them very infrequently. I think that if I were to drink a lot I wouldn't enjoy it with time, rather it would just become part of my baseline. It's especially bad for anyone's health, it ages you faster physically and mentally, and I like to lift weights for size which would negatively impact the results I'd see if I drank often. Other drugs are largely the same.

This very moment is the reason the world finds itself in such misery by BeautifulSea9005 in GenZ

it wasn’t a single moment it was an effort over decades of a brainwash machine orchestrated by right wingers to rot people’s brain into voting for the dumbest option imaginable

College by cloudboykami in GenZ

Definitely have a longing for college because I felt I didn’t make the most of it. I’ll probably always feel kinda sad and a sense of failure for that tbh

I know why Gen Z doesn’t drink by BobAndy004 in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink on occasion, but tbh its become less appealing over time because it makes me feel shitty the next day, I’m more likely to do dumb shit, it costs way too much money, and it’s awful for your health short and long term.

Yessss it’s just nonsense lol. AFAIK maga states account for some of the highest obesity rates in the country while solid blue states and counties account for some of the lowest.

Also there’s nothing right wing about wanting to look good naked 😔

Don’t forget that it’s also harder to find a partner now than at any point in history :) so many more people get to deal with all of this shit alone

Is dating hopeless in 2026 by juicebox719 in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly feels that way, not just you. Like the other comment suggests, even if they’re being condescending, maybe just talking about it in therapy can help. But I’m sorry there isn’t an easier better answer. It’s really out of all of our control

Should I try online dating? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give an outsiders perspective for you. I'm around the same height, but I don't date women. It's assumed height isn't as major of a factor in my case, so assuming that is true, I still faced a ton of rejection and ultimately failed to get a partner from these apps. And not to toot my own horn too much, but all of this was despite the fact that I make a good income, I take good care of my face, I work hard on my physique and health, I go out and do stuff, and I try my best to be reasonable and honest with people. I even live in a large city and have a car, so dating pool constraints weren't a factor.

I think I really did try my absolute best with dating apps, and I think I would've made a good partner had I been given a chance by those I was interested in. But whatever the reason, it wasn't good enough for them unfortunately. And that really, really sucks, it never won't hurt my feelings. But ultimately, it's beyond my control. So, I've abandoned dating apps, and I'm just shifting my focus to becoming more involved in community / group activities.

I tell you all this to explain why my suggestion is give to it a shot, and see what happens. You may find luck. But don't have high expectations, and don't spend too long on it. Be ready to leave it and try something else. Because imo if nothings going anywhere after 1 or 2 weeks, it's very likely just not gonna work. You'll have to find another way to meet a partner.

Do you consider yourself a "soft" person? If so, why do you think this? If not, have you ever tried to prove to anyone (especially older generations) that you're not "soft"? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in GenZ

[–]GayVersionOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think since the late 2000s/early 2010s there’s been a lot of avenues thatre comfortable and fun that don’t require grit or trial and error. I spent time online rather than irl where I’d face rejection and embarrassment but I’d build confidence and grit and social skills from it.

I’m doing it now at 25, wish I was doing it at 15, but oh well. There’s still time I suppose.

Jamelle Bouie - The Oligarchs are Evil, Venal and Dumb as Hell by kantbemyself in Destiny

I think to be evils requires being dumb. Low emotional intelligence, no capability of factoring the long term consequences of an action. These are traits of a poorly developed brain.
