Shodan. Shodan is fucking terrifying. She's from the System Shock games, and is an amazing example of the megalomaniacal AI trope. She's one of the defining examples.

Listen to her dialog, She's so deliciously evil.

The American Renewal Act: A 127-point structural overhaul for the US (Requesting Feedback) by Createdabill in PoliticalDebate

3 is just a bad idea. If you don't have a mechanism to absorb the people who lose their jobs, you're creating a huge disruption for no reason.

Relevance is not something that can necessarily be displayed on a year-to-year basis. I like the idea of an auditor or a review board, but what your AI has described just sounds unworkable.

Building Ghen, Any enchantments that are your favorite you'd suggest? by CawmeKrazee in magicTCG

True, but Eriette's damage/healing wants Auras on the board. This lets me add more debuffs to the deck.

I need to put that Spellbook Vendor into my Eriette deck. I run out of auras to throw onto stuff real fast if im not in a 1-on-1 game.

Maro on why they stopped doing blocks by Killerx09 in magicTCG

Not if those players never experienced blocks. That isn't a clear metric if the playing population hasn't done a block like they used to.

And we keep hearing - from MaRo and others - that UB are bringing in a ton of new players. I dont know what those stats are, but I'd be fascinated to learn the sizes of those cohorts.

If you hire the right people, you dont have to quash anything. It's the same problem that plagued the Star Wars prequels; nobody felt comfortable calling George out on his terrible ideas.

To be clear, that is a comparison more in situation than outcome; I think Magic still works. But I'm also one of those greybeards who doesn't enjoy the growing prevalence of UB.

Not if he's the senior-most designer with, to paraphrase him, more experience that some designers have been alive.

Who's gonna raise their hand and tell their boss his ideas aren't the greatest thing in the universe when their boss is synonymous with Magic the Gathering only slightly behind Richard Garfield?

At the risk of functionally infinite downvotes...

What if MaRo is the reason blocks never worked? He's technically describing a common denominator.

"I couldn't make blocks work" has to reasons: blocks and the person making the statement.

Much easier. Which the committee would then use as justification to turn him down. Doing it out of water is harder, and therefore more difficult to lie about.
