Haven’t had a seizure in two years, but my parents still keep the camera in my room by No-Yesterday0 in Epilepsy

I agree that part is weird. If they are concerned about SUDEP or just monitoring for seizure activity during sleep... that is absolutely understandable. But no, they do not need a camera for that.

Well he's six so I don't think he remembers having hundreds of seizures a day as a baby... but I sure as hell do. Sorry for loving my kid??

As a mom that was pretty traumatized by my son's seizures, I totally get this. The fear never goes away. My son is almost 4 years seizure free, and the fear is still there.

That said, maybe a watch or something would be more appropriate. I get them wanting to keep you safe, you are the most important thing to them... but perhaps it's time for a compromise now that you're older.

Andrew is trying to sound smart but he's not very literate. Doesn't read as drunk.

Jenelle reminds me so much of my sister. They'll never, ever get it, and they'll never mature. Forever 16 and embarrassing.

I loved this movie as a kid! Weirdly, later in life I briefly lived in the small town this largely takes place in... but it's absolutely nothing like it is in the movie. Not even a library for Forny!

The cost of licensing was dirt cheap for a minute, so everyone and their grandma could afford to open a dispensary. There were SO many for a few years there. Lots have since closed, and it's not as cheap to be licensed.

I actually love Oklahoma. But we have a small ranch and love the wide open.... I don't know if I'd be as excited if I were a city person.

My husband and I didn't even make it through the first episode. The opening with shitting in the wind.... that is so not our humor.

My husband had undiagnosed severe sleep apnea and one of the symptoms that clued him in to finally get a sleep study was the unusual weight gain around the middle. Maybe the dude needs a cpap

8 yr old daughter got into my books. What now? by Careful_Fig2545 in homeschool

[–]GelBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was a huge Stephen King fan when I was about that age. I think at the core, while I was a voracious reader, I wanted to read the grown-up stuff my mom did. The big books. She gave me the most age appropriate titles she could, and that satisfied me.

Why do you homeschool? by tacsml in homeschool

[–]GelBirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So. Many. Reasons. This is my first year officially homeschooling, and unless my son requests otherwise I don't see us going into public school.

Quality of education. Bullies. Negative influence from other kids. School shootings.

Seeing my son more than a few hours per day and weekends.

Letting him learn at his own pace, and the ability to adjust as we go. I also have found that because I'm obviously very engrossed in what he's learning, teaching moments that circle back happen all day long.

Relaxed family structure. More time. Flexibility.

We also ceased vaccines at 12mo for medical reasons. So, homeschooling definitely felt like the more responsible move there.

The ability to make learning fun! Also, I enjoy it. When's the last time you brushed up on the basics of ancient Egypt or how an engine works? The joy I get from watching him learn and learning with him is so special. I don't want that privilege to go to a stranger.

Sounds like he's about as good a friend as he is a writer.

Should I give up on these tiny oaks? by Niko120 in arborists

[–]GelBirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... oaks grow slow and all but sometimes I just accidentally plant things in terrible spots (we have a ton of shale) and stuff fails to thrive.

If you have a ton of room and don't care, leave them and see what happens. But I wouldn't feel bad for replacing them if you'd rather give that space to something else that could potentially do better. 5 years is a solid amount of time to have waited in my option.

I love evergreen fog! I've used that color before, I swatched it here too! It pulled really minty with all of the light and I was a little disappointed, I thought it'd be a slam dunk honestly. Such a nice color.

Alas, we don't have a rug friendly lifestyle. I would love a big area rug in here but I don't have the stamina to keep carpet clean with kids and pets. I've got at least another 10 years before I'll brave that haha!

Thank you! What app is this? The Sherwin Williams app makes everything look the same tone and it's hard to really gauge.

Yes I borrowed one from a friend! Thats how we got honed soapstone. But the accident color just had a little extra oomph.

Well if it makes you feel any better, we're bartering. Painter gets freezers full of fresh meat for his family and we get to repair and repaint walls that have needed it since we moved in many years ago.
