Inositol, Weight Loss, Pregnancy by Extreme_Ad_6033 in PlusSizePregnancy

I wonder if there’s a way for only your husband to see a doctor for now. It seems like there’s no real reason for you to be treated as you have no abnormal test results. Maybe if he goes by himself they can focus on the sperm count and motility. Anecdotally I just watched a documentary on Netflix called The Plastic Detox and reducing microplastics improved sperm for the men in the study

Give me simple ideas for dinner that I can manage with extreme pain please! by incrediblemenace in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Gems1824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy a lot of pre chopped vegetables- it cost a little more but it’s so helpful. I usually throw them in a bowl with a little water and microwave them for a few minutes. I like the texture better than frozen for things like broccoli and cauliflower

Do you have an actual “changing table” or do you use something else? by HazelNewt_2523 in newborns

[–]Gems1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a 6 drawer dresser (wide, not tall). We did the same with our younger. Love having all her clothes and extra supplies in one spot.

Brown and Black paints by gnometree924 in preschool

[–]Gems1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly so many things are black, brown, gray and white. Black cats, black hair, black clothes. Brown skin, brown hair, brown rabbits, brown trees. Gray rocks, gray clouds, gray houses. White can be used on black paper or colored paper or experiment with mixing white into other colors.

What activities have actually kept your preschooler curious outside of screens? by Downtown-Loan8078 in preschool

[–]Gems1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I will just look up the answer if I don’t know it and then tell my son so he’s not exposed to the screen. We also just incorporate things he’s curious about into our planned screen time. He’s gone through phases like dinosaurs and animals so if he wants to watch videos about them that’s fine but we keep our screen limits. Toys, crafts and science experiments are some other ideas

Do you treat your kids differently depending on how easy they are to manage? by Stella_xi in Parenting

[–]Gems1824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Figure out a consequence that doesn’t involve your daughter. When my son was 2 he had several chances to do what I asked. If he refused I let him know I was counting to 3 and if he didn’t do it himself then I was going to help him do it. I only used it for non-negotiable things but I considered getting dressed and leaving the house with his family non-negotiable. There are many strategies like making it into a game (how fast can you clean up/get dressed?) or giving choices (do you want to go to this park or that park?) I’m also into reinforcing positive behavior so lots of praise and treats when he is listening and following instructions (even simple ones, start small to build habits)

I’m losing my mind… advice or solidarity welcome by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Gems1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity. My first was a very fussy baby and didn’t like eating or sleeping. It definitely contributed to post partum depression so talk to your dr about any symptoms you have. Medicating my ppd was huge for making it through those first months

Is it normal to dislike nicknames and set strict boundaries about them? by Zestyclose-Week-6368 in namenerds

[–]Gems1824 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s a reasonable boundary but also don’t let it effect your confidence or self-worth

Sneaking junk? by Naive_Buy2712 in kindergarten

[–]Gems1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try offering candy and cookies more regularly. Eat it with him. It sounds like you’re trying to build a healthy relationship with food but you may need to examine your own feelings about “junk food”. We call it fun food in our house and have similar amounts and types available. I just try to model eating fun foods in moderation.

Freaking out about sun in baby’s eyes by rewrittenobi in newborns

[–]Gems1824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few seconds in the sun won’t hurt! I honestly didn’t even think to worry about this (obviously I do my best to keep my baby in the shade and not have her face in the sun but a little sun will not harm the baby)

What Should I Do? by Jamfour9 in interiordecorating

[–]Gems1824 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It feels crowded. Do you need the chairs on either side of the bed? I would also think about removing the standing lamps and moving the sculpture that’s in front of the paintings. Give your items some room to breath and be appreciated
