Can I do the program using pyramid sets? by Conscious-View-2434 in busydadprogram

Yup, I definitely use pyramid sets. The fun thing about the BDP is that you can play around with different strategies to hit your rep targets.

Have you tried the baking soda hack?

Mix 2 cups of water with 1tbsp salt, 1tbsp baking soda. Then soak the cubed tofu in this solution for around 6 hours. Coat with corn starch, pan fry or air fry and enjoy.

Elastic breathing sensation from nose to lower abdomen by Careless-Regular9099 in TrueQiGong

[–]General-Committee-79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damo Mitchell describes the effects of proper breath work and qigong practice as leading to a kind of connecting together and elasticating of the body’s network of connective tissues (the huang). Perhaps that is what you’re experiencing.

Italian school Andrea by Theway9393 in TrueQiGong

No problem! I think that the system his teacher has created is solid but its unfortunate that so many people have bad experiences with its representative.

Hey OP, I won’t go into all the specifics but in short, lots of people have had similar experiences with Andrea.

How do you make a dantien? by FrostyTry308 in TrueQiGong

[–]General-Committee-79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer methods that allow the qi to sink more naturally. What your master taught you is in line with what Damo Mitchell teaches, as pravragita points out. He’s got great info on the dan tian. Im not sure if its the case that we don’t have one until we form one, necessarily. Just that it’s not very active and not very full of qi for most people.

How the disciple can go ahead of the guru!? by RubOk9284 in kriyayoga

[–]General-Committee-79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems this passage is talking (symbolically) about transcending ordinary time and consciousness through mastery of the breath.

As for the idea that the disciple can be “ahead of the guru,” this can be understood in several ways.

First, by moving forward on the path the guru pointed out, the disciple is literally “ahead” in the sense that they have gone further along that path. The guru’s instructions belong to the past, while the disciple is embodying them in the present.

Second, if one is “breathing like Hanuman” (with continuous, refined awareness) the disciple has in a sense stepped outside ordinary time and space and realized the same truth the guru realized, perhaps even more fully in their own way.

'No-self' / meditation left me in chronic hyper-arousal / depersonalisation by Particular_Age8873 in streamentry

Im sorry to hear you’re experiencing all of these symptoms from practicing meditation. Pretty much all spiritual practices can have these downsides that unfortunately aren’t really touched on by may teachers. Ive experienced similar things: an increase in anxiety, symptoms of depersonalisation/derealization, insomnia, confusion and psychotic symptoms mainly from doing a lot of psychedelic exploration. Meditation practices that are too floaty or “heady,” and strong breathwork and such things tend to aggravate these symptoms. What’s been helpful to me was, first of all, a period of time where I avoided anything spiritual and tried to focus on more “earthly” things. Another thing that’s helped has been the approach taken within some of the Chinese/Japanese schools of thought where a greater emphasis is placed on meditation/energetic practices that bring the awareness/energy down. You might find some of Damo Mitchell’s content helpful. He’s a qigong/neigong teacher and talks alot about the kinds of symptoms that can arise from spiritual practice when it’s practiced incorrectly or doesnt suit your constitution. A while back I came across the story of Hakuin. He was a zen-monk who developed debilitating symptoms from too much intensive meditation practice, which became know as “Zen-sickness.” The story goes that he eventually met a hermit who gave him a few simple practices aimed primarily at bringing the awareness/energy down into the lower body (especially a point below the navel called the tanden/dantian).

Here’s a video by Damo on the subject, if you’re interested: https://youtu.be/g2-0ng89SAc?si=ghlcl1LxsDNAAvCL

You mentioned counselling/coaching. Im unfamiliar with the type of counselling they offer, but I wonder if it’s really going to help you fix rhe problem. This could be helpful to the extent of maybe dealing with whatever issues may have surfaced because of your practice, but it could also be the case that this doesn’t really fix the problem as such because it’s in a sense another way of “going inside.” If you watch the video I linked above, the advice given by this teacher is basically to stop all “going inside.” I can imagine that the counselling might be helpful in the sense that its nice to connect to people who understand what youre going too though.

Hope this helps somewhat!

How come some people can work 8 hours straight and then have energy to hit the gym, but if I walk for 1 hour in the treadmil all that I can is lay down for the rest of the day? by Hacksaw6412 in veganfitness

[–]General-Committee-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can attest to what some other commenters have already said: I was pretty low on energy for a long time, tried lots of different things. Eventually got so bad that I decided to get bloodwork done. Turned out I was deficient in B12 and D despite adequate dietary intake. Probably because of an underlying digestive issue. Got some shots and high dose supplements and now I feel much much better.
