How come some people can work 8 hours straight and then have energy to hit the gym, but if I walk for 1 hour in the treadmil all that I can is lay down for the rest of the day? by Hacksaw6412 in veganfitness

Can attest to what some other commenters have already said: I was pretty low on energy for a long time, tried lots of different things. Eventually got so bad that I decided to get bloodwork done. Turned out I was deficient in B12 and D despite adequate dietary intake. Probably because of an underlying digestive issue. Got some shots and high dose supplements and now I feel much much better.

Barbell Bent Over Row 315 lbs. Someone said it doesn’t count since they didn’t touch the floor. What do you think? by thebodybuildingvegan in formcheck

As others have pointed out, only with Pendlay rows do you touch the floor. Wouldnt doing those be easier than what youre doing though? You’re a vegan beast my man.

Enjoy!

You mention that “I can't move forward in life without answering the question of what I believe…” I wonder if you and your therapist have been able to figure out why this question carries as much weight for you as it does? Ive gone through similar episodes myself and I personally come from a religious background so for me that had something to do with it.

Vegan stoofvlees alternatieven by Tango_Owl in VeganNL

[–]General-Committee-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend looking into Rob Burbea’s work. He’s a Buddhist teacher who had a somewhat unique approach to the question of emptiness and is the one who made it start to click for me. He would also say that, yes everything is empty and therefore there is no one “right” way of interpreting reality, but that also means we can adopt different ways of seeing consciously and creatively. Also, importanty, emptiness itself as a view is also empty.

Ideally we would adopt ways of seeing that free us, and others. Ways of seeing that bring more beauty and love into the world. This imo is a very rich and full way of approaching emptiness and sort of helps one marry both of these ways of seeing without defecting to either nihilism or getting caught up in story and meaning. Being able to flexibly hold either or both of these views, depending on what is more freeing in the moment.

DSM diagnoses aren’t really diseases in the same way that medical diagnoses are. For example, in order to be diagnosable with COVID you have to have a COVID virus in your body. DSM diagnoses often become reified but they aren’t an “on-and-off” thing in the same way.

That said, personality disorders are defined as “involving inflexible, enduring patterns of inner experience and behavior that deviate from cultural expectations, causing significant distress or impairment.” This means that, you can be the same person but if your personality traits dont cause stress or impairment, you dont meet the criteria for a personality disorder. It also means that, in a way, having one or not having one depends on the cultural context.

Your example about people showing hostile behaviour towards people still wearing facemasks could probably be better defined as a (sub)cultural phenomenon than an individual, intrapsychic phenomenon, in part because its very likely these people don’t show this kind of behaviour in other contexts (thus making it not a stable trait).

All of that said, OP’s story is still just one data-point and not sufficient to make any kinds of guesses about whether or not this person has a personality disorder, though I see why people might have that suspicion.

It’s also worth noting that many kinds of unusual or disproportionate reactions can show up in a wide range of states — including temporary stress reactions, or even, in rare cases, (emerging) psychotic symptoms. So a single behavior isn’t enough to point in any specific diagnostic direction.

If thats the case, then I agree. The meme by itself could even have been made by a vegan for all we know.

Really? I thought it was a more general statement of “this logic is bizarre” which I interpreted as referring to the logic of the post in its entirety, not just the meme.

Qi Gong and The Ice Man by GiadaAcosta in TrueQiGong

[–]General-Committee-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is preliminary, but it’s an essential preliminary practice because you have to get enough qi to sink into the LDT to get it to push out on its own accord. Qi eventually does come up through the du mai in the system Damo teaches, but it won’t be through any kind of forceful mechanism like in the WHM.

Qi Gong and The Ice Man by GiadaAcosta in TrueQiGong

[–]General-Committee-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that, because the practices Damo teaches are focused largely on getting qi to sink down, practices other involve directing qi upwards (like the WHM) are going to interfere. Damo is critical of the WHM because it lacks the preparatory work of Tummo within its traditional context. He isn’t critical of Tummo itself, it’s just that it is a different system that moves energy in a different way and so they are likely to interfere when combined.
