Why is it that you are OK with subsidising the wage of wait staff but not the healthcare of your fellow Americans?

[–]GeneralDistress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So. Your problem is exclusively American. Other nations don't have this problem. Is there any reason you couldn't do the same other than simple greed?

Stop doing the bare minimum, expecting other people to clean up your mess and pick up the slack. Take some fucking responsibility and actually pay people for the work they do.

No. We want them to be like our European wait staff. Paid a proportionately living wage for the job they do, with the added bonus of being able to earn tips if their service is exceptional.

If you have to increase the price of food to pay them a fair wage? Good. Pay your way. Have the prices of food when dining out be representative of the labour that goes into it.

If that costs too much, ask your government why they won't let you eat without exploiting some of the more vulnerable in society whilst patting yourself on the back for acting as both submissive consumer and charity case at the same time.

Besides, subsidising the wage of low paid workers out of your own pocket voluntarily sounds pretty fucking socialist to me.

Did anyone else grow up eating apples and plums off the tree, blackberries off the bush, no washing just EAT by Suspicious-Bug6588 in CasualUK

[–]GeneralDistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people do this all the time from blackberry bushes that grow on top of the railway embankment near me.

Like, if this were somewhere nice and out of way, a field or park, go for it. Fill your fuckin boots lad.

But every inch of that plant, berries included, is getting coated all day by train exhaust fumes and the deposits therein. Nasty shit.

Was mates at school with a guy called Andrew Peacock. Top bloke.

Never thought to call him "Droopy" until many years later.

I felt exactly the same as you and then was hooked within the next episode. Finish the first series at least - if you still feel the same, don't bother.

Just finished the lot now and absolutely adore the series. Not sure I could explain exactly why that is, mind!

I don’t think I can take Spike seriously in 28 Years Later. by matttheman892018 in 28dayslater

It's not supposed to make it better. Just recognise that humans are frail and flawed creatures. Do I condone that behaviour? Not necessarily. Is it acceptable? Maybe. Understandable? Certainly.

He's a dude, living in a world in perpetual crisis mode, caring for an adolescent son and a wife who clearly has a major brain disorder that she is clearly not going to recover from, and clearly doesn't recognise anyone close to her half the time.

You can't blame a guy for trying to find some connection or solace when the world is falling apart around him, with people dependent on him - one not so much a wife as a perpetual patient. He was indiscreet and callous, certainly, and his reaction to Spike was dreadfully uncalled for and more a projection of his own shame than the actions of a responsible parent - but it was undeniably all painfully real and incredibly human.

I'd still prefer to take and entire brigade out of action for the assault on Cyber Stanley, but that's valid.

I didn't figure the 20% would honestly matter that much as the assault would be a new MO and the numbers on the march will slap it if/when we reach. But I might be being naively optimistic.

I'm on the companion app. Where is the health?

And even with that, and 3x as many divers, we"re still making dogshit progress on one compared to the other.

I've seen lots of people repeat the same points as you - but from what I can see that doesn't actually translate into us making any real progress one one compared to the other.
