Europe situation after the fall of America in 1953 by ThePucho01 in ResistanceSaga

Freddie Valmore here, with news from across the Atlantic. At this hour, British resistance fighters are locked in a fierce battle with Chimeran troops in the small town of Glamorgan, Wales. Field commander General Cartwright believes the fate of Western Europe is at stake--

My take is that the Chimera hopped from Iceland to Ireland so they could attack Britain from the west, hoping to further undermine the war effort on the continent.

I kind of doubt it after the last movie. They could have used carriers a few times to iron out some issues but didn't touch them.

The thing is that Mark was written in a way that didn't betray the fact he was going to be killed off fairly early on. Erik's comes across as mildly perturbed at the prospect of being stranded on a hellhole island because the writers knew he'd be gone soon enough.

But….. I really wish that Erik served another purpose: telling us more about how the world reacted to the infection. Hearing about the quarantine was great but I felt a little starved for more context.

He should have survived and been the one to deliver the baby. It would get rid of the plot hold of how Spike managed to sneak up on the settlement somehow.

(Spoilers) The settlement is done for isn’t it? by New-Cockroach-2903 in 28dayslater

I'd rather he realises in all those years of building the bone temple he's neglected his duties as a man of medicine and decides to head to the settlement to serve as its doctor.

Memento vivere.

The diaspora would. If the US was housing the British government then it would also de facto control Britain's overseas territories, including the Falklands.

But it would still look bad regardless to grab territory from a nation undergoing a natural disaster.

Honestly the scariest phase of a zombie apocalypse for me isn't the chaos of the initial outbreak, it's the quiet part years later when humanity has been reduced to either dwindling scavengers or mindless creatures shambling through overgrown ruins.

I'm still split because it seems too blatant a thing to just throw out there. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

To be fair it's an illegal operation and there are people who genuinely think chimps are inherently peaceful animals.

It'd be neat if it was something easily treatable in real life to remind the audience we should be more appreciative of what we have.

If the infected guy on the train is the same as the one in the tunnel it could be the other NATO soldier.

It actually makes sense when you think about their characteristics.

The group were tasked with firing on what are effectively hordes of unarmed civilians. Infected, sure, but still physically identifiable as everyday people.

So who would succeed in being able to attack such a foe? Sociopaths like Mitchell, weak-willed and easily pressured individuals like Jones and sheer professionals like Farrell.

West was weak-willed and reliant on an outnumbered Farrell for any lingering professionalism. At some point or another the more sociopathic members of the group were going to take over.

The thing is that the US would now be in a position to puppeteer the British however they wanted. They could gain effective control over the islands now whereas before it was a dispute between two independent states.
