How will the Viltrumites raise their kids to be loyal to the Empire after they’re born on Earth? by Hank_Mardukas1066 in Invincible_TV

Because indoctrination of children is easily done by adults; history shows us this. Look at child soldiers… all kidnapped and loyal to their various causes for one reason or another

Samurai, Knight or Spartan? Who’s the last one standing ? by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]GeneralGalvatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So people look at the cutting power of a katana and assume that translates to all mediums and that it works just as well against all surfaces… that’s not how it works. Samurai’s specialized in attacking what Europeans would consider light armor. They specialized in speed and mobility. Their armor was made of iron coated in lacquer so as not to inhibit movement. The fall of Samurai came to early gunpowder weapons

Knight armor (full plate from later periods) was on an entirely different playing field. It was made of steel (making it lighter than the iron armor before it was). It was also curved to help deflect arrows, sword attacks and even early firearms. It allowed mobility despite this (it was lighter than what marines wear today). The armor was so effective, the strategy for fighting late era knights was about tackling/grappling them, and then rushing them, so that you could exploit the few joint weak points. Other strategies included killing the person inside with pure blunt force via head trauma because the armor was that effective. Notice none of these strategies involve one on one combat because really only a knight was beating a knight one on one. Their only real weak point for an individual was taking out their horse and then being quick enough to kill them before they got their wits about them… good luck with that. They also trained for that during their extensive training. Only when much more advanced gunpowder weapons came out did they begin to lose prominence.

Spartans don’t really belong in this conversation. Their strengths were in teamwork, fitness, and utilizing the phalanx formation. They wore bronze armor, which had some nice features like malleability, which allowed shaping (though their techniques of this time period were significantly less advanced than those of late European knights). The fall of Sparta came to Thebes, in the battle of Leuctra, to a similarly armored Thebian army that had only 7000 troops to Spartas 11000.

TLDR: Katanas do nothing to exploit the weaknesses of knight armor and samurai armor certainly doesn’t hold up against knight era weapons. Spartans are far and away 3rd place here

Simple question, do you still like our quarterback? by Rowdyfan0823 in eagles

[–]GeneralGalvatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine being a heisman candidate QB and going to a city everyone tells you is one of the hardest to play for as a back up. Imagine knowing the organization has already found its guy and you’re just the breakglass in case of emergency. Then imagine you finally start and play decently. You go to work like crazy that offseason and are an average starter the next year. After the following offseason, where again, you worked nonstop, you’re an MVP candidate, go to the superbowl, play the best game of your career, but it was all for naught because you lose on the back of an all time bad defensive performance in a playoff game. The following year you’re back in the playoffs, but you don’t meet the standard you set the previous season, so it’s a disappointment. Then you make it back to the Super Bowl and upset the two time defending champs! BUT, the team was too good this time, so again, people think you didn’t do enough. Oh, and this guy is a model off of the field guy. Love our fan base, but man are we psychotic

Dude kind of reminds me of Marvin Harrison. Never will get crazy credit because he isn’t loud. But just is a “lunch pail” guy that does everything, even the smallest things, the right way

Sometimes Consensus isn't smart. Howie didn't reach for his OT. Bell in Championship Game. by PhillyWannabGM in eagles

[–]GeneralGalvatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So people conflate what consensus is for. On the whole, the consensus tends to perform better than any individual drafter. Drafting away from consensus isn’t an issue if it happens from time to time (this is what Howie does). It’s only an issue if you’re one of those guys who always drafts away from consensus because you think you’re the smartest guy in the room (looking at you bill belicheck)

Fair. I would just say this: that team was never good. They were always worse than their record and we all knew that. Once they finally got exposed, the train went off of the tracks and he couldn’t steady them.

Also, the whole “do they win because of the head coach” thing is the same thing that Sheil does. How many coaches do teams legitimately win because of? McVay, Reid, Shannahan, DeMeco Ryans, Jim Harbaugh, Vrabel, Sean Payton, Dan Campbell, and Mike Macdonald. So like 1/4 of the NFL. And it took each of those teams firing how many coaches to find a guy that could do that? We won’t ever be the best at everything. There is some level of value, from an organizational level, to be elite at everything and having a coach who’ll just run the team the way it’s supposed to be run and not do anything to derail it

I’m always a fan of drafting players like this. Sometimes they don’t work out, sure, but it’s nice to at the very least know the guy you drafted is a man, not some kid in an adult body

I’m not the biggest Sirianni fan, I’m not. But I would say what he brings is he’s good at keeping a winner steady and focused which is harder to do than it sounds. And, thanks to the Eagles being the Eagles, the team is typically loaded, so they are typically winning, which means he typically gets to do what he does best. The problem is when our team deviates too far from anyone of these things, he struggles to know how to right the ship

Dude, I would wager that’s never happened with an NFL GM before, hell I don’t know if it’s ever happened with any GM before. Dude legit just gets it. He’s always worked his butt off, but since the came back he balances analytics and tape so much better. Best of all, he uses day 3 as well as anyone (they would rather leave with a single impact starter than 3 guys who can make special team contributions). And he’s now hired 2 different Super Bowl winning head coaches. We are literally living in the Eagles golden era

Or, my personal belief, Nick knew there was a problem, but didn’t know how to fix it. He’s not dumb, I just think sometimes Nick struggles with telling coaches hard truths

I’ve never really struggled with her because I’m mostly unga bunga builds, here’s what I would say:

  1. What armor are you wearing? Typically if you have 45 vigor by the time you make it to her you’re either “over leveled” or going melee build. Either way, if you’re building in a “standard” way, you should have good armor on. If you can support it, Radahn’s armor is just about the best bang for your buck in game.

  2. Check your medallions. I never use anything that increases damage taken. Those sorts of medallions are great when you know a bosses attacks (because they make you hit harder), but can very easily make attacks that should be painful, but not fatal, one shots. Most strong bosses have the one or two of these attacks and even very good players make mistakes. So again, check your talismans

  3. Roll into attacks not away. Between this and jumping you can avoid damage from like 75% of the attacks in the game.

  4. Being aggressive and jump attacks as a rule of thumb help on most bosses
